2013 recommendations

We are picking up our 2013 4Runner on Monday or Tuesday, and I need to figure out what all-weather mats to buy.

Does anyone have these:
FloorLiner DigitalFit Product Education Center | WeatherTech.com

If so, do you like them? And, what does "Please select your vehicle's floor mat retention device configuration:" mean? (Only option is Driver and Passenger Twist-style floor posts)

Also, anyone know if canvas back can make a liner for the cargo area that covers the wheel wells?

My dogs are going to be in the back a lot, and spend time on farms herding sheep and hiking, so they can be dirty as hell sometimes. I need some way to protect the carpeting/interior surfaces. (They travel in crates in the back, but the dirt and fur travels!)

Any recommendations are welcome.

The Husky Weatherbeaters are great and are in my truck.

There are a bunch of thread on this, including a recent thread with lots of pics.

For your stinky dogs, the Husky cargo liner works great. It has a lip around the whole perimeter that contains water and crud. The wheel wells are plastic so there is really no need to cover them. The wipe off just as easily as the cover would. I put my big chocolate lab back there when he is just out of the pond or the ocean and the liner contains all the mud, sand, water, etc and is very easy to clean up.

I have weathertec's and they are a good product. I had the canvasback product in my previous vehicle and its an excellent product. They will custom make you most anything and they have good customer service. Check out their site for details.

It seems like every few weeks another thread about Husky vs Weathertech comes about. Simply put, you can't go wrong with either. I personally chose Weathertech, but it really doesn't matter. You will be happy with either.

As for your cargo liner, same thing. Sorry I have no experience with Canvasback, but from what I've seen and heard you won't be disappointed with their product either. Welcome to the club and enjoy your new 4Runner.

Completely agree. Wife has had the WeatherTech Digital Fit mats in her Highlander for a year and we love them. I had WeatherTech Digital mats in my old car for about a year and a half and loved them, and now the Husky WeatherBeater mats in my 4R for a week and I love them too (plus, got them $10 cheaper than I could get the WeatherTech mats). They seem very comparable to me and both will do the job well.
 
I have had both on different trucks, the Weathertech seem a little thicker.
I now have the Husky liners in my 4runner an they seem fine.
The only issue with the Husky's are that they have hundreds of sharp little points on the bottom to bite the carpet and every time you remove them you grab them points and yell bad words at them.
 
The last I heard Weathertech still did not have liners out for the 2013 attachment points. That may have changed by now.

I was pretty well set on buying Weathertechs for my 2013 Trail. When I ordered the Trail in December of 2012 was when I first started contacting Weathertech to place my order. Every two weeks I would call and they would say "we should have the 2013 liners ready in a few weeks. They are still in development due to the new design....". I even emailed them a few times on their website hoping I may catch a different contact who could give me better information. Nothing. "In a few weeks" went on forever.

I saw some people talking about the Weatherbeaters. I have had Huskyliners for years, but never the Weatherbeaters. By mid-late January the Weatherbeaters hit the market ahead of Weathertech so I ordered and never looked back! I am very pleased with them. Ordered direct from Huskyliner. Significantly cheaper than Weathertech, quick shipment, good fitment, made in the USA and competent customer service.

I hope Weathertech is waiting for me to call back and order. I'll call in "a few weeks....."
 
<weathertech, really glad I got them and I like the set a lot. Trapped mud and snow in pretty well. Good luck on your purchase!!
 
I have Husky's throughout my truck since week two of ownership (about 3 years?) and I love them. They contain spills, melted snow, mud, and are very easy to take out and clean.

This! ^

The Husky Weatherbeater liners and the Weathertech Digital Fit liners are pretty even. It really just comes down to aesthetic and price differences. Here's one thread discussing the two with some pics.

As far as "retention device", just select the twist style post mounts. These type of fasteners were new for the 2013 4Runners. The 2010-2012 used a hook type retention device, a picture of which is in the linked thread. Both Husky and Weathertech had (or are in the process) of updating their production designs to accommodate the new style fasteners. As stated above, I believe that Husky has the liners for the 2013 out, but Weathertech still has to release theirs.
 
Use the Toyota all weather mats (eBay $90) the 2013 model is specific. And then get the weathertech for the rear cargo area.

Should be taking delivery on the 4runner tomorrow or Tuesday.

Can't wait to be in that car, and with a new winter weather advisory all week the timing is perfect. :)
