2013 SR5, Nervous tremor / light bucking 40mph

My 2013 4Runner with 1700 miles has something that is hard to describe. Has anyone else noticed a very light shudder, especially noticable around 40-50 mph? I feel it in the seat, not the wheel, especially when accelerating. I feel like it may be in the transmission, and it's like a very slight bucking, likes it's in too high of a gear all the time. My other thoughts is that it could be a tire issue? Going to bring it in in a few days to see what the dealer thinks.

The 5G takes some getting used to, eg brea... brakes, the ride, shift points, etc.

Go drive another new one - see what it feels like.

One of the best things I did to mine was a professional alignment, and getting the caster set to +4 degrees.

The trouble that you describe sounds a lot like a "Wheel balance issue", mainly due to the fact that the shuddering becomes more obvious at 40-50 mph; characteristic of this condition.

I experienced the same problem when I first bought my 3rd gen SR5 . It was "Pre-owned/Certified" with 40,000 exactly on the clock. I negotiated Brand new, 16" wheels/tires as part of the deal (came w/15" wheels).

However, when I drove it home using the highway, I could feel that "shuddering", as you've described it. I took it back to the dealer and told the service mgr what I was experiencing.

They tested it, balanced all four wheels, and gave it back to me. The difference...night & day!

P.S.: Do yourself a favor. Before you even consider some type of transmission trouble, just have those new wheels balanced to totally eliminate that as a possible source; it's quicker... and they'll give you free coffee while you wait! :tea:

Getting the tires balanced again is a good thing to try first, you might even have a defective tire. Have them inspect the tires for defects.
 
I would say wheel balancing is the issue as well. I picked up my new 2013 LE and noticed the same thing on the way home. Brought it to a local shop who said that the rear wheels were slightly off balance. Strangely, it didn't look like a weight was thrown, but more like the wheels were not balanced properly at the factory. Anyway, once the balance was fixed, the problem went away.
 
edit: shudder will not be tire related, because his throttle input (acceleration) has an effect on the vibration.

I made a thread 2 weeks or so ago about a weird noise (with a very small underlying vibration that begins at lower speed than the noise, that is not stated in the thread.) have a look at it.

Not wheel balance, lugging

Brought it to the dealer, who did a 4 wheel balance and sent me home. The light bucking felt in the seat is still there at 45 MPH.

I am now convinced that it is "lugging" like the transmission is in too high of a gear for the speed.

My friend with a new Honda Pilot says his does the same thing.

Guess I'll have to live with it.
 
I will be addressing it again with the service manager when it goes in for the 5000 mile service. Thanks.
 
If you mentioned it does under load.. i may have had the same issue.. but it was more of a grinding feel.. and i felt it through the accelerator pedal and seats.. kind of a whirring/grinding sound.. and its under load only when the torque converter is locked
 
My issue has nothing to do with load. Like I said, it feels like a bad tire or it's in too high of a gear for 45 mph. Just a light chugging feel in the seat at 45 mph.

You said "especially during acceleration" that means the engine is under load.. i believe its the same thing my 2010 limited did.. my 2011 trail hardly does it
