The dealer I am negotiating with gave me a price of 37,120 on a Mag Gray 2013 SR5 4x4 with convenience package, leather seats and running boards. This is without tt&l. Looking at 39,000 with tt&l.
He offered me 6k on my trade in and I said I wouldn't take less than 8k and he agreed. Me and my wife walked out of the dealership on saturday because they were rushing the hell out of us. We walked again today cuz she had to be at work and dude was taking his sweet ass time. Before I left the second time I told him I wanted a set of cooper at3 in 285/70r17 thrown in with the deal and he told me no. Walked again today and will probably be back in the morning.
The 4runner will have to be shipped over to arkansas from houston cuz that is the closest one in the color and options that i want.
Keep in mind the last salesman over the past few weeks failed to return emails and phone calls and sold the 4 runner i requested and never bothered to get in touch with me. Needless to stay I didnt bother to contact him and started working with a new salesman.

This is my first brand new car I have ever purchased and I am just over thinking everything and want to make sure I dont get screwed. Any and all opinions are greatly appreciated and thank you. This site has been a wealth of information and I can't wait to start my build thread.
Bilstein 5100's and toytec rear springs will be ordered as soon as I sign for the new ride.

Hmm. Seems like he should throw in the tires. I go the LE with third row, nav and a few accessories for $40k.

What city are you in?

We got ours for $33k, in Golden, CO. Convenience pkg #1 (no leather), no running boards, with pearl white and a chrome tip.

Yours: with convenience pkg #2, running boards, but no pearl white, should be no more than $36k. I wouldn't even worry about tires. Just get a rock bottom price and swap the tires after purchase (sell the OEM tires).

What is list? End of the year, they should be willing to deal. Toyotathon month.
Oh, always negotiate an out the door price. That way they can't fee you to death.

I am in Little Rock, Arkansas. Based on some of the research i have done it seems the msrp with the options mine has is between 38k and 38.6k with invoice around 35k. I want to do tires included in the price because it is more convenient. Both mine and my wifes schedules dont jive at all so if they can do the ordering, mounting and balancing and have it all done when i take delivery that would be a great help.

Price

Your dealer's price seems too high for an SR5. I bought a 2013 Trail with Nav but no KDSS for $37,002 and that was at 5.6% under MSRP. Others have got them for less.
I think you can do better by getting your own running boards, the ones I have seen at dealers were flimsy. I went with NFab Nerf Steps and they can be adapted to fit an SR5. They look much better. IMO

Silver- list was 38,200.

bob- It's my wifes car so she needs running boards with the lift i am going to throw on and the 285's. the lift was her idea but she isnt very tall and has a hard time getting in my lifted truck with a skirt on. i do however enjoy watching her try :biggrin2:

The toyota service guy told me he could get the tires for 235/ea. my final offer will be to throw in the tires/mounting and balancing with that same price i talked about. no dice, then i walk for the 3rd time.

So a mag grey 2013 sr5 4x4 with convenience pkg, leather, running boards, tint and mats with 285/75 17 cooper discoverer at/3 and tt&l for 39k.

Hellamatic- you aren't kidding! Haha.

Thanks for all the help guys. I just left the dealership and made no deal.
He tried to tell me they would only give me $340 credit for the stock tires and that they wouldn't be able to re sell them for full price. Keep in mind the vehicle is being delivered in Houston before rerouting to Arkansas so it would probably only have 5 miles on it. I know for a fact that they would resell those tires for full price. This has been an awful experience with this dealership so I am going to try another and see how that goes.

Price Seems High

Not sure how much leather and running boards run, but that seems kinda high. I purchased my 2013 sr5 about a month and a half ago for 32,900 which includes all fees except for TTL. MSRP was 36,610.

I totally agree with this. The more ifs-ands-and-buts you fold into the car sale, the more you muck it up. Keep it simple; do the car deal with the car dealer, and the tire deal with a tire dealer.

Face it, your Toyota dealer does not WANT a set of oem tires - same reason you don't.

If you're expecting much money for the oem tires you will be disappointed. Find a tire dealer and make the deal with him ahead of time, and drive straight there.

I recommend you deal with the dealer internet department. Do a search on Carsdirect.com and other sites. Get the price you feel comfortable with and take to the dealership internet department. 99% of the time, they will match the price or beat it.

hey, this is just my opinion. but these are production cars. pay invoice, plus a modest fee for title and license (like $250) and call it a day. you can calculate tax, if you are in houston is should be 6.25%. there should be nothing else. toyota has a 2% dealer holdback (2% x MSRP) to make dealer profit.

additionally, dont go to the dealer 3 times unless you like to. i negotiated my purchase of a specific limited, not in stock, had to have it shipped in all over email. particularly in texas, with all the major cities around you, you probably have 10 dealerships within a 2ish hour drive.

again, just my opinion.

Make sure you calculate the sales tax on the trade difference, not the sales price of the vehicle. If you are paying $38,000 and they give you $6000 trade in, your sales tax will be $32,000 X 6.25%, not $38,000 X 6.25%...at least that's the way it works in TX.

Also, pass on the extended warranty they try to sell you at the dealer...there are numerous posts on this site about who to get the Toyota Extended Wty from at great prices.

Unfortunately here in little rock there are not very many dealers to choose from.
The tax was calculated subtracting the trade in from the sale price of the vehicle.

my bad. i read that original post wrong. there seems to be three in the little rock area (according to google). your making a nearly $40k purchase, make sure you like the guy you are buying from.

good luck!
