2013 Trailtest drive--underpowered?

Well whats another $10 grand here or there anyway. So long as you get that V8, it doesn't matter. Its just money - and still in the vicinity.

Probably blow more than that on something stupid like pot or guns anyway.

If ~25% difference in price is no big deal, then I can say missing ~25% of it's cylinder is no big deal either. So what's another 2 extra cylinders I think fair comparisons would be much more fruitful for OP.

Lmao this is getting good. I would say the power is there, the truck just gas a good way of hiding it because of the programming for fuel economy. So what, you'll spend extra at the pump for putting your foot down more or spend more money on a car with a larger engine.

Just took anew 2103 Trail for a test drive. Driving down the highway it seemed a little weak accelerating uphill to 65 or just going uphill in general. makes me wonder how it would perform driving in the mountains. Was it just me or is the 2013 underpowered? Of course it has the same power train as the 2010-2012 models. You all happy with the performance of your 4runners?

As other's have said, just try driving it a bit harder and then seeing how you feel about it. If it still feels under powered then perhaps you should look at another vehicle more suited to your taste.

However, I can say this, I've never came upon a situation where I couldn't overtake another vehicle on the highway (within reason); nor have I encountered a steep hilly road I could not climb with confidence. It's no race car, but IMO it gets the job done and then some.

About a month ago I test drove a new 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee with their new v-6 engine, quadra-drive 4wd system, nav, leather. Fairly well equipped at around $41K. It was quite peppy too. The 2014s have a 9-speed transmission and I have read that it greatly improves performance from the v-6. The main reason I didn't buy the Jeep was that I thought it was too nice to take off road and of course, not rugged enough--like the 4RTE--for serious off-roading.

This is confusing, If people wanted a sports car they shouldn't be driving a body on frame truck.. It would take 500 HP to make a 4800lbs vehicle feel quick. That being said, you can spend 60 grand on a BMW with a boosted I6 and you only get what? 30 HP and 22lb-ft? Either way the engine in the 5th gen is pretty powerful. Sounds like some would have been better suited in a SRT8 or AMG

No, jeeps have 8 speeds and the V6 isn't that new. The pentastar has been in it since 2011.

Hey bud, I don't know what to tell you. JGC's are nice trucks and a couple of friends have them because they have always had good luck with Jeeps and are familiar with maintaining them. Me? I wouldn't get one because I like the Toyota's. To each, his own. But don't listen to people here because they'll tell you they're crap. You're a big boy.

For me, if I wanted something for serious off roading (and being in NJ don't really know what that is but assume you will hit big rocks and stumps and shit) I'd get some cheap used beater truck thats good off road, beat it up some more, and have more fun without the worry. But that's me.

Just browse the Jeep forums, the WK and WK2 seemed to be the least reliable Jeeps they've come out with.

It's definitely the better vehicle though of you are just into soft roading and more street driving.

The V6 isn't a confidence inducing engine. It's powerful enough, but hardly "powerful". I love the car overall so, I'm okay with it, but it bugs me more often than I would like.
