2014 4Runner

2014 toyota 4 runner trail

Some nice changes, nothing major. I'll be in the market again at the end of the year.

2014 Toyota 4Runner SUV's Aggressive Lights Teased - WOT on Motor Trend

New headlights! Not real crazy about the tail lights though.. There have to be more changes than this, right?
Don't buy one it is not trail ready. the fender skins are thinner. went out on the trail with the jeep boys. the left mirror exploded and the right front fender buckled. So much for trail

trail

Traded in my '11 Trail for a Trail Premium KDSS. Never ordered a vehicle before, took a couple months to get in but WELL worth it. I didn't have the KDSS on the old one and really wanted to check it out, hope it's worth it. The '14s are awesome! Interior changes are great. Can't wait to get an ICON kit under it and some Shrockworks armor...

Bought one just like it. took it out on the trail the left mirror exploded and the rt fender buckled Not made for the trail maybe some snow. The fenders have much thinner metal Great maybe for snow but with the jeep boys it is lacking a lot

only the RX330/350 (Canada) and ES (Kentucky) are made outside of japan. the RX450h is still made in japan I think.

since the GX is the same platform as the 4Runner, they are still being made at the Tahara Plant, which if memory serves me correct, is the oldest/biggest modern plant Toyota has and has been making 4Runners since inception of the model.

Code:
Plant Owner Location Model(s)
Tahara Toyota Motor Corp. Tahara, Aichi Prefecture LS,GS,IS,GX
Kokura Toyota Motor Kyushu, Inc. Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture CT,HS,RX
Miyata Toyota Motor Kyushu, Inc. Miyawaka, Fukuoka Prefecture IS,RX
Motomachi Toyota Motor Corp. Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture LFA
Higashi Fuji Kanto Auto Works, Ltd. Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture SC
Sanage Toyota Boshoku Corp. Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture LX
Cambridge Toyota Canada, Inc. Cambridge, Ontario RX

I don't get why anyone would get an sr5 - since a trail is pretty much the same price?

the only reason you should get the TE is for the 4x4, KDSS and the locker. if you not gonna get the 4x4, KDSS and locker what the point of getting a TE imo.

plus you can get the SR5 in 4x2 whereas you can only get the TE in 4x4 hence cheaper. most females could care less for the 4x4 aspect if your below the snow belt.

3rd Row seat

I just traded a FJ that had a 'weird' noise that was unable to be diagnosed and fixed by Toyota. I wasn't willing to roll the dice on another 'super system' that is prone to having this problem.

I fought the good fight in trying to have this fixed, now I just want a nice, smooth, quiet, noise free truck. Best way to do that is go vanilla.

Yes, you can get a Trail w/o KDSS, but I don't think $800+ is worth a hood scoop. And I never used the locker in the FJ.

The price isn't the same at all.
Plus if you want to mod the vehicle, why pay more for things that are going to be changed anyway.
KDSS and locker are what you get for thousands of dollars later. 4x4 comes on sr5, and unless you are doing tons of hardcore offroading, the KDSS/locker aren't essential. They are very nice to have, don't get me wrong. KDSS is excellent, but if you are going to mod suspension, might bring up some issues/more purchases necessary. The locker is handy to have, but not an essential for a city car/camping trips/and occasional hardcore offroading.

in the end, all 3 models cover about 90% of the demographics that Toyota wants to cover.

SR5 for those that want the basic and to get a foot into that segment (and also for those that want to mod the hell out of it)

TE for those that want to off road light/med (but don't want to mod extensively and throw money away replacing those oem systems)

LE for those that want to off road lightly with mostly on road luxury (and don't intend to mod at all or very light - I fall into this myself)

I had to have that super badass, genuine, simulated, imitation hood scoop. I didn't care how much more it cost! HADDA HAVE IT, HADDA HAVE IT!!!! :boxer:

yeah I was in that boat in my younger years, but I gave up that ghost for the creature comforts and the glare of the hood scoop issue depending on angle/time of day/etc.

Hahaha. I actually got an SR5 over a trail because I HAD TO HAVE A RED TRUCK! All my Toyotas have been red and I love the color and that was all that mattered :D Finding a Red Trail at the time was near impossible and there was a Red SR5 sitting right in front of me.

In the end the only thing from the trail that I want is a locker, and I'll just bite the bullet and install one the week after I can't do something I wanted to because I didn't have it :)

Didn't use it that often on my taco, and with a-trac, I'm already ahead of the old taco in offroadability. So that might not even happen :)

Base msrp is $1,000 difference between sr5 4x4 and trail 4x4 - I would get the trail for resale value alone. Ok I see if you want 3rd row or 4x2 but other than that I don't think the dealers should even order sr5s.

Anyways went with the limited in metallic black. I was looking for a used 5th gen 4ever but resale is crazy!! I got mine for $41,000 options are running boards, mudflaps and floor mats. Not happy with paying $200 for floor mats and then $300 for weathertechs. Gonna take delivery Saturday - you guys ever have any success with not buying the factory floor mats? I was hopping the parts would take them on trade or something?
