Before I posted, I set up bluetooth (phone was working, contacts sync, everything except messages). I shut the Runner down, went inside to do a bit of posting/research, also get a flash drive to update the software. I went back outside to update the software, that didn't work. But while I was sitting there, I got a text, and it registered on the HU. I guess it just needed to a restart/disconnect-reconnect. I really don't know.
But I did learn that the '14 SR5 does not have Entune (thats what I thought I was updating to 3.2). So as far as updating the software, I have no idea whats going on... ha.

Question for all you kids with '14s:
The DRL (day running lights) switch, when I turn the selector to that position, no lights come one...

They are DRIVEing lights, not PARKing lights. The Japanese are very precise about these things.

Much nicer. I didn't have the silver piece but I still plastidipped the front black.

Hey guys yes I masked it, I actually bought the 3500 Professional Sprayer with a gallon of plastidip, you don't really need to be too careful when you are plasti dipping that piece because of the gap between the piece and the actual bumper it'll be easy to remove the plastidip that got into the bumper without affecting that silver piece. False. They actually don't come on unless the 4Runner is running. No selection to drive needed. DRL (Daytime Running Lights).

I'm looking to upgrade the wife's rig from a 1997 4runner sr5 to a 2014 4runner sr5 premium. (about time amirite??? I'm keepin the 3rd gen though!)
We went to a local dealership and got some quotes on the sr5, sr5 premium and sr5 trail (trail looks nicest IMO!)
But we need the 3rd row (multiple times where we had to take 2 vehicles and what a pain) as this is one of the main reasons we are upgrading, so sadly the TE is not an option. We were first torn between the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander. I threw out the t4r as a suggestion since she mentioned she wanted a truck that looked like a truck! (I know my wife is badass :guitar3
Anyways the search function is really not helping right now. And I wanted some real world opinions on that 3rd row. We got the quotes but got so caught talking with the salesman, who happens to be my uncle, we didn't even get to look inside the damn thing! But anyways we will go back once we have the down payment to do a thorough look through. But again any input on that 3rd row from actual 3rd row owners??

That is strange. Mine does not have automatic lights. Does yours? Because with the switch on mine came on as soon as I started the engine a couple days ago. I tried several different variations to see what did what.
