2014 4Runner

I just bought one on Saturday. The only one I could find in the North Texas area. Several dealers stated they are getting 1 or 2 after Jan 19th. I am loving it so far. 2014 Trail Edition Premium, Super White.

Me too. Bought the same with KDSS in Phoenix on Friday. :reddance:

Now to figure out how to best get rid of the front license plate holder in a way that looks good :)

Yeah, being in CA too, I hate the front plate law. Since the truck had my name on it before it was built, I had notes in the dealer system indicating not to install front plate mount when it arrived. I go to complete the deal and see the mount installed! I was pissed. The guys doing the PDI said they had to install it as it was required by law. I almost cancelled the deal, but needed the write off for 2013 and it had all the options I wanted (including two holes I didn't want).

Haven't pulled the mount to see how bad the holes look. But will be looking for some covers that look clean and can be painted to match.

Oh man, sucks! A friend of mine working for a dealer is going to pick me up some basic plugs and white touch-up paint, which I'd have to think is the best simple solution...

Summary :

looks like 2014 inventory has settled down across the country at around 3800-3900 units across the board.
i have not seen any big swings in model/colors like in the first 1/2 of december. big demand colors (white, black, silver)
still jump around 20-30 units +/- but thats normal.

2013 :

Inventory dropped ~240 units since last update. getting close to the magical 1k barrier.

again until the next update.

My first post on this forum! I'm an owner of a 1997 4Runner with 368k+ miles on it. I've loved it, but it's time to move on... had to just replace the radiator on it, but everthing else seems to be intact for now...

So i'm looking to buy a 2013 trail or a 2014 trail premium 4runner. that 2013 standard sliding cargo deck drives me crazy though.... haha. I know this thread is all about 2014s, but regarding this post... what happens when the 2013 stock gets to the 1k barrier? How much of an extra discount are we talking about? i might take a sliding cargo deck if it's going to save tons of $$. Thanks!

the 1k barrier means that inventory across the country will be thin, which may lead to dealers making better deals to get old 2013 models off the lot.

there is no guarantee they will make deals since 4runners have never had incentives, discounts, rebates, etc to move them.

each dealer will be different on what they will do to move old stuff especially if they have 2014 on the lot with the 2013. if a vehicle is past the 90 day window, most dealers start getting jumpy since they need to move it off the lot since it costing them money to keep it past 90 days. but finding out if its been sitting for 90+ days is not always forthcoming from the dealer.

best bet is too look at the manufacture date on the inside drivers door to get an idea, not always accurate since it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months to actually get one in from build date.

thanks a bunch. I couldn't find a third option code for those, all I could find was the R6 and KH option code. I prefer the look of the R1's compared to my R6.

now to see if I can get the R1's from my parts manager at a discount or go another route.

Is there a part number for the R1 running boards? What is the difference between these and the R6 option running boards?

Glad to finally join this forum instead of dropping in as an outsider!

Picked up my 2014 SR5 premium 4x4 in super white last night for a price I believe was below invoice!

I wrote up a post about it. Check it out.

What does interior look like?

Picked it up last week! Lovin it so far. Im totally digging the interior and the front lines.

What does your interior look like?

I just ordered a Black Trail Premium myself. However, I test drove a silver one which had the two tone silver and black interior with silver stitching. I liked it but when I was looking online today it appeared like the black ones all had the all black seating with the red stitching, which i don't like.

They look very similar to the Ionic CXV Running Boards. Stifler has them: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/152797-ionic-cxv-running-boards-pics.html

Also find them here: Ionic CXV Running Boards Toyota 4Runner (Excluding Trail Edition) 2010-2014

Are these R1 running boards actually OEM or aftermarket?

if it has a Toyota option code then its a OEM item. if it was aftermarket, it wouldn't have an option code on the window sticker.

I have usually seen them only on gulf states or SE Toyota only.

The silver 4runner you test drove with the two tone seats was a SR5 premium, versus the Trail Premium that had all black seats with red stitching.

Hey jcrom, all Trail Premium 4Runners come with a solid black SofTex seating and red stitching regardless of exterior colors. I bought a silver 2014 SR5 Premium 4x4 with two tone silver and black interior with silver stitching. I am very satisfied with it because the exterior color matches the interior silver accents.

I haven't done a lot of searching or contacting my local dealer, but here is the only thing I have found for the R1's.

Aluminum Running Board set 2010+ 4runner 00012-R1173-01

The listed part number seems different from other Toyota part numbers. Might be the dealer's part number? Or these are not the R1's and are the aftermarket Ionic CXV's? Possibly the R1's are the CXV's sourced from Ionic and rebranded as Toyota?

Damn. My fears have been confirmed. I knew it was the SR5 model but the sales guy told me that Premium would be the same basic design except the Trail would have the off-road features I was looking for. That red stitching is awful. Only way it looks cool is if your 4Runner is red. Oh well. I will live. Thanks for the clarification.
