2014 Headlight Bulbs

Generally, it's good to at least check the manual. Things like bulb size, fluids, wiper blade sizes... are going to be in there somewhere. It may not always be in a location that is easily found, but it will be there.

Lots of users register just to ask a question to save themselves the 2 minutes it would take to look for the answer. It adds up fast. I find responses to be much more positive to posts that are along the lines of "I tried this and I looked for an answer but I still need some advice..."

To your point, I researched via google, searched the sight, but found no information. Thus, I posted a question. Next time I will be sure to use that as a qualifier to avoid the needless posts. Thanks for the pointer re: the manual. Learn something new every day

I just did a pnp kit in my stock projectors on a 2014 trail. The results were quite good with no noticeable squirrel spotters. I used XB35 H11 bulbs and fully potted Denso ballasts from TRS. FYI, the most recent batch of Morimoto ballasts have a problem with the ignitors in them. TRS has newly designed ballasts with larger ignitors on order and they are supposed to arrive December 10. So, either order a set of potted Denso ballasts (OEM) or wait until December 10 to get the newly designed Morimoto ballasts.

Hi, just purchased a 2014 Limited 4x4 and I'm new to the forum. I am wanting to do an HID conversion, but I am not sure what bulb types come in the T4R

Does anyone know what type of bulb the '14 limiteds take for the headlights and fog lights?

If you do use HID in your stock projectors, here is a really good writeup on modifying the stock H11 projectors in a 4th gen. The output won't be as good as a HID projector, but it will be better then halogen and not blind anyone.

I would have never considered using HIDs in Halogen Projectors, until I read that thread.

Here is a picture of the output with Morimoto XB35 bulbs in 2014 stock projectors. Granted it is nowhere near as good as my wife's 2013 RX HIDs, it is still a huge improvement over stock. While there is no noticeable squirrel spotters, there does seem to be some very very faint glare above the cutoff.

That looks much better than throwing HIDs into a non-projector at least. I retrofitted on my '10 and love them. Should have come from the factory with HIDs.

That's correct. It's a quality PnP setup in stock projectors.

What is the kelvin rating of your XB35 bulbs? They look quite yellow in the pic to be HID's...thanks.

Do yourself a favor and buy quality components, suggest TRS.

I met up with BTLAW tonight to see what the light output of the TRS pnp kit vs. the stock output. My understanding is that BTLAW (left) uses a 35w bulb @ 4300 Kelvin with the Denso ballast. Pretty dramatic difference...
