2014 Headlight Bulbs

I met up with BTLAW tonight to see what the light output of the TRS pnp kit vs. the stock output. My understanding is that BTLAW (left) uses a 35w bulb @ 4300 Kelvin with the Denso ballast. Pretty dramatic difference...

Is that just bulbs and ballasts or did he replace the oem projector lens?

HID Conversion Low Beam & FOG Lights

Hi guys I just got my HID conversion done last night, I ordered 2 kits one for my Low Beams and one for the Fog lights, the manual for my 4runner trail says that it uses H16 bulbs which aren't even close to what I ordered, they look a lot more like an H11 just smaller. I'm thinking on pulling out the fog light assembly and see if there is any way I can make an H11 fit in there. Has anyone done this conversion??? I've been looking around on this site but I haven't found anything about the FOG Light HID conversion.

Hey guys, i spent some time on the forum before making the decision to get my '14 SR5. Im trying to replace the drl's with led's but the bulb does not look like an 1156. Just wondering if that bulb type is model specific. Thank you, in advance from your help:keyboard:

The DRLs on the 14' are your high beams too...so you can't just replace them with an LED and expect to have high beams working fine. No idea what the bulb is, but your manual will tell you that for sure.

^^^ I used 35w in my previous cars that worked good. waiting for my new set to be delivered. will circle back when installed.

I used 35w in my 2014. If you're ordering Morimoto parts, be sure you get the new DSP ballasts as there was a recall on the recently produced SS ballasts. They were not firing consistently.

The high beams on a 2014 are 9005 bulb. They are also the DRL's. The way the DRL's work is the bulbs are set at a lower voltage than in high beam mode, and thus not as nearly as bright. Replacing these bulbs with HID's is a bad move. One I am pretty sure the DRL's will not work correctly and you will be sending full voltage to the bulbs in DRL mode and blind people as the DRL circuit will power the ballasts that in turn power the HID bulbs. There is not low voltage mode for HID's. Either ON or OFF. And the high beams are a halogen reflector design, thus HID's will be even more blinding to any on coming drivers, even in DRL mode. It will be no better than those ricer wantabes who put HID's in there halogen reflector low beams and end up blinding oncoming traffic.

i dont think the 4runner will get LED DRL's until the 6th gens come out. this would solve the issue of putting in HID in the high beam/drl spot currently.

hopefully by then, toyota will give the option of getting the bi-xexon headlights or god willing, LED headlights.

New to the forum guys. I also have a 2014 Limited 2x4. I have the projector halogen lights and my question is I just want to take out the old H11 bulbs (that are yellow) and put in some Piaa bulbs (PIAA 15111) now is that okay to do? I don't want to put in HID bulbs and do a retrofit. I tried searching for this answer but it got kind of confusing.

Thanks in advance.

Both autoparswarehouse and amazon say they do not fit. Not sure why. Maybe someone else will know better.
