2014 Limited Rough Ride

I was getting into enough trouble as it was in my crappy 2010 3.6R legacy sedan, I couldn't imagine the trouble I would be in that

Ok, back to the point. I'm not wondering why the 4runner has a rougher ride than a German sports sedan or a Subaru. I'm comparing it to THE OTHER 4RUNNER that used to sit in my driveway.

Good news is I am getting 20 mpg combined.

That's a stark contrast. German sports sedan to 4runner.

Go drive a Wrangler (no offense if there are any Wrangler owners) and then you're 4runner will feel like velvet!

Better yet, I drove my buddies Defender 90. That car makes the 4runner feel like a Lexus LS460, although I'd take the D90 any day over an LS460

I went from a Wrangler to a 3 series BMW (E46) to the 4Runner.......4Runner rides very nicely for what it is....but you do have to tell it where to go. A BMW will simply go where you look, it's an extension of you and flows down the road effortlessly.

Ed, seriously man, did you have 20's on your other 4Runner? Did your other 4Runner have XREAS suspension? If it did then there COULD be an apples to apples comparison. If not, then those two things + you being a lot older is the culprit. Old stuff is always remembered better than it really was. Last question: Did your new 4Runner start off riding better than it does now?

Low profile tires (less sidewall to soak up the bumps) + XREAS suspension (to keep corner lean down to a minimum) + memory (jaded, hazy or otherwise) = a stiffer ride.

oh I comprehended it just fine..... but you test drove it decided to buy it and now are questioning the ride difference between new and old..... I take it your analytical skills were on break during the test drive? or you are just slow

I drove every version a number of times, at a number of dealerships. The best ride was probably a used 2011 Limited I drove at Carmax. Of course, they wanted about $300 less than the MSRP on a new one for it.

You can always pick up a used set of 17" oem wheels for around $300. Would be a lot cheaper than another car. But yes, you should run the tire pressure listed on the door frame, which should be around 32psi I'd guess.

I know I'm in the minority and will die a fiery death because of the 7-inch rim, but I love my 20s, especially so with the LTX.

Please more pics of the RS7! Nothing like a classy 4 door super car.

I saw one at a car show and couldn't stop looking. I'm not a fan of the style of the 7's, but that thing is a beast. 728 HP with a software only. APR has ran one at like 10.6 1/4 mile. Bananas.

Disagree. I'm driving the 5-Series eater, in sport mode, and love getting back into the truck for the way it soaks up potholes and our winter ravaged roads. Even the gas consumption is better in the 4R.

And so far, no one has yet mentioned the WAY COOLER ride sitting behind the RS7. Derek, is that yours?

High Pressure

Our '14 Limited came from the factory at 42 psi cold. I dropped it down to 36 cold and it made a big difference (I always keep my vehicles above the factory recommended "comfort" pressure recommendation). I guess most of the dealers are not aware and are not adjusting upon delivery.
