My front end of my 14 runner started making loud clanking noises recently. Thought it might be another axle sense I had one replaced at 25,000 miles. Let my mechanic look and it and driver and passenger side LCA bushing are shot. He quoted me $650. I don't understand how these are already bad at 38,000 miles ? The truck only sees off-road during hunting season and those are logging roads. He said he has had to replace several the last couple years on 4runners and tacomas. Is it just a bad design? I'm not knocking on Toyota my last two tacomas were bomb proof mostly. I love this vehicle , but starting to question it with an axle and now the bushing with less than 40,000 miles on the vehicle. Is this fairly common for these? Just in case it matters its lifted 3" spacers up front 2" rear springs. 17x8 0 offset wheels and p rated Cooper at3 285/70/17.
