2014 Oil Change

Has anyone changed the oil in their 2014 and if so how?

I don't have a '14... I've got a '10 Limited. I'm pretty sure the procedure to change the oil in all 5th Gens is going to be the same as posted by [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION]. He's got a GREAT write up with a lot of pictures to help guide you through the process.

If you do quick search on the forum, you'll find quite a few links to folks who have found good prices on filters online.

Thanks, my husband had looked at that but it seems like this one is different. And the manual is no help. He has always done our oil changes in the past but this one has him stumped! I told him I would come here looking for help. I hate to have to break down and take it somewhere to get it done. Thanks for trying to help though!

The engine is the same, so the only thing that would possibly be different is how the plastic trim removes under the bumper. Even the skid plates should be the same...

^This. I changed my 2014's oil at 500 miles and it was the same as my 2011 FJ minus the skid plates.

I just came in the house from doing my 70k mile oil change on my 2012 TE. When I first got my 4Runner I was a little intimidated by the oil change procedure, but Antman's write up helped me a lot.

It is just a little more time consuming than most other vehicles, but not difficult. Have him re-read Antman's write up a couple times, the skids plates come off pretty easy and once they are out of the way, it is pretty easy to figure out.

It really helps to have a floor jack and some jack stands.

Still takes me about 3 hours from start to finish including dumping the used oil at the local Walmart. I usually take my time and clean up the skid plates, covers, and bolts and have a look around while I'm under there. I've never needed or bothered with jacking it up. The front skidplate is easy to remove on the Trail version so YMMV.

Thanks everyone, he got it done. It was 6 bolts and he did have to jack it up to get to everything.

I couldn't get the plastic snap-in drain to work and the "socket" to unscrew the filter housing won't even go on. The dealer told me that have known of these problems for several years, but keep selling them.
He said they have a new "wrench" to unscrew the housing, but it often times breaks the housing tabs............SO WHY ARE YOU SELLING IT !!!????

I asked what the shop uses and he said they use a similar "socket" type furnished by Toyota. I asked if he would ship me one (I'm 200 miles from them) and he said no, they are not sold to the public.................................!!!!!!
