2014 sr5 premium center console arm rest

Does anyone know what is underneath the center console armrest storage area? Reason why I ask is that I hear some sort of clicking noise (sounds like something is shifting around down there) when I accelerate from a stop or make a sharp turn. The sound is not too loud (basically sounds like a sunglass case moving around in the storage box if it were in there) but maybe something underneath is not secured? If anyone has any experience or insight in this, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

No idea whats down there but I did find a loose nut rattling around in my tailgate this fall. Same kind of wierd rattling/occasional shifting noise when opening the tailgate, turning, or going from reverse to drive after backing up. Thankfully in my case the plastic grab handles on the bottom of the tailgate pop out easily so I was able to get access to the inside of the tailate without much work -- took me forever to find a bolt that was missing its nut tho and even longer to actually find the nut, but mystery rattle solved and proof that lose nuts and bolts can just happen (especially without any loctite on the threads!)

Good luck finding your rattle and hope its as simple as a non-critical nut or rock, etc in there.
 
Thanks. I'm thinking its probably something like that. Everything seems to be working fine otherwise so I'm not really worried about it. I do know where its coming from so the dealer shouldn't have too much trouble finding it. Its partly because the T4R is so quiet compared to what I drove before. That and because its still new so I'm a bit more sensitive to strange sounds or noises coming from my truck.

Welcome to the forum. Are you talking about the lip balm holder next to the most forward cup holder? Describe your location that you're asking about better or include a photo.
 
Yes, that sounds like it. I read the book but didn't see where they describe it's for lip balm but I guess that could be exactly it.

It holds my itty bitty old style iPod Nano with a cable attached to the usb port. And some spare change since the coin holder in the console doesn't seem to be US currency specific.

Under there are wires, cables, etc. Nothing should be loose. Have you tried the cigarette lighter insidet the console and the two behind it? Perhaps the connectin plug is loose? Plug something in there to see if they work. If it doesn't work, perhaps it is unplugged. There are 2 wires that feed the lighters, and they have a white plastic plug so that you can connect and disconnect them when you remove the console.

I took mine apart 2 weeks ago when I upgraded my stereo.
