2014 SR5 Radio Presets clearing

So I noticed after getting back from a trip all my radio presets were empty. I reset them, a few days later they were gone again. Now I reset them again and they stay, but if I change one of them it will change and remain there for the time the truck is on, but it I turn it off and back on again it goes back to the station that I had programmed in previously

I assume it is an issue with the unit and I will take it in, but just wondering if anyone else has had that issue. I see one other thread that looks similar

My SR5 did something similar. I'm not a big radio guy (mostly listen to CDs) so I only set 5 presets initially. Those have stayed on until this day, but a few months back I added a 6th preset and every time I turned my vehicle off and back on, the 6th preset would be gone.

One thing I did that doesn't make much sense but it did work, was to reduce the amount of presets from the 30+ that was automatically set up upon purchase down to 10 presets. Since then, I've not had any problems. Strange, but it worked for me.
 
Don't quote me, but I feel like I had this problem with my '05 Tacoma.
If my memory is working correctly (a rare event), it was a fuse. Something easy that was making the HU think the power kept being pulled, therefore erasing the presets.

no other setting in the unit seems to be effected, just radio presets, bluetooth, and all the other custom settings remain

I just did a thread on this. I did not know this one was going. Was there a fix for this? 2014 SR5 is having the same problem.
 
I haven't had it into the dealer yet, going to get them to look at it next week think
 
So I had it into the dealer and they said it needed to be replaced. I went in for the replacement, had it done, and went out to my 4runner to find a new unit all scratched to shit. I went back in and got the Service Manager who said they would order another one....but that they are refurbished. I said I want a new one. He said all radio units are handled under an exchange program and are usually refurbished ones. After talking to Toyota Canada they told me the warranty states new or refurbished parts. I am not impressed. Even if it is refurbished it should look new.

Either way I had them put my old one back in and they are ordering me another one and I said I would have a look at it when it comes in.

That said, the old one magically works again. So my guess is unplugging it and having it disconnected from the power source for a bit reset it. I'll see if it keeps working and report back
 
Possible wasn't plugged n all the way at 1st ? Doesn't take much , I know when putting my grom n my 05 it took pretty good push to set it n solid !
 
Personally if I was doing it again ,I would disconnect the battery for a few mins to clear the radio out and see if that fixes it before I went to the dealer and had them scratch my shit up
 
All your presets would erase I would think, so yes. It may not fix it, but my original unit is working fine since it was disconnected from the truck for a few days
 
My 2014 SR5 started doing this on Tues...so glad to see im not alone.

I know the 5.1 entune update came out a few weeks ago, so i will see if that works...then ill try the battery disconnect trick next...


i dont listen to the radio much either...ive got 800+ songs on my iphone, plus a pobcast or two...thats more than enough for me.


and i can stop mentally blaming the woman that i am related to by marriage for this...as every time she touches my truck something seems to go wrong...ask me about a cracked windshield that she says 'just happened'...yeah, sure
 
I just read a thread like this on this forum... I believe most people fixed it by pushing a fuse in further. Apparently, a certain fuse wasn't making full contact all the time and was resetting everything...

I don't have a 4Runner yet, so I can't visualize the fuse location.

I believe it was somewhere in the "Weird electrical issues on 2015 TE" thread, located in the 5th generation forum....
