2014 TE wreck / curtain airbag deployment

Wow! that absolutely sucks, glad you're okay though. I really hate the way insurance works, they never seem to take into consideration the loss of future resale value when writing a claim. its just "here is your somewhat repaired car, hope you enjoy that it is now worth half what it was a month ago!"

Sorry to hear about your accident like most have said the good thing is your ok. 1 thing to consider i know here in texas we have a law that says if it is the first accident for that vehicle and is relatively newer like yours is then you can get what is called a diminished value estimate. Which is what your vehicle wouldve been worth for trade in without the accident vs. what it is worth now. I had a guy rear end my 2010 tundra a while ago and ended using a guy here that actually does the estimates for you and you submit the paperwork to the insurance for payment. Sometime they will say they are not responsible for that but i took mine to small claims and about two weeks later i was paid around 4200 by the insurance. You can also do like my dad did on his ford escape when he was hit and just go to the dealership and get the two estimates from them printed out and submit like with all insurance companies they will try and low ball to get you to settle but something is better than nothing. Sorry this is so long but just thought maybe where you live they have the same helped alot when i traded mine in and used it for the down payment on the new vehicle.

This is good info! I will have to see if CO has the same thing. To me, it's not so much that the vehicle has been repaired, it's the fact that now that it has been in a wreck it is worth less than it was. Not a great situation come trade in time.

NERunner where do you live, man? I'm in Worcester. My office is in Natick, not far at all from Boston.

Can anyone tell if this truck was equipped with 3rd row seating. I don't recall that being an option on a TE? I ask as the side curtain appears to go all the way back to the D pilliar.

I can tell you the airbags go all the way back to the D pillar regardless - I totaled a 2016 SR5P last year in a collision that also set off every airbag in the truck, including curtain airbags back there and I did not have a 3rd row seat.

Don't worry too much. If they do for whatever reason decide to fix it then just take it to a local dealer and trade it in. Resale is too strong on these, you won't be getting hosed. Just make sure the diminished value is high and where it should be.

OK, that has been my understanding since 2010. I get a request about every other day from my website asking if I do, or if I can, build a barrier for the 5th gen. While I'd love to, the liability issues are just too great. I stumbled across this graphic the other day and it got me wondering again. The wording is a little poor reguarding the 3rd row. It states they are there if equipped. But I think Toyota is just trying to make it clear 3rd rows are not standard equipment.

Ah ya that is really ambiguous which seems odd, definitely implies they're there only if the 3rd row is there. Unless my truck was an oddity, then they're standard regardless of 3rd row.
