Did a quick search, didn't see this posted. If it was, I'm sure someone will chime in... Onward

So... If they... Would you?

After it was officially unveiled just a few weeks ago, the new 2014 Toyota 4Runner is ending up in our news once again, this time with the help of some renderings. The images posted below have been provided by theophiluschin.com and they are showing what the pickup truck version of the model might look like. Keep in mind that Toyota didn’t announce any plans to introduce such a model but there is an old saying that works perfectly in this case: “never say never”.

Do you remember back in the 80s and 90s, the 4Runner was the SUV variant of the Hilux truck in Toyota’s range? Much like today’s Fortuner and (Asian) Hilux. Well I thought it could be interesting to bring back the Pickup name for a truck based on the newly facelifted North American 4Runner

The wheelbase is too long. If they pushed the rear wheels toward the cabin and kept more tacoma-like fender flares, it would look decent. As is, nope.

I'm excited to see where the Tacoma goes for the next gen. My brother and dad both have TRD off-road Tacomas. My uncle has a T/X Baja Taco. I really like all 3. The redesigned Tacoma will be getting direct injection and I'd imagine new ATs will come along with that. Hopefully they get the interior materials up to where the new Tundra looks to be. If that all happens, I *might* be tempted to get one. There are times that it would be nice to have a truck. Having to put a bag of trash in the back of my 4Runner after a weekend at the campsite a few weeks ago was annoying. Getting a topper would pretty much match my 4Runner. I do like the shorter wheelbase of the 4Runners, though.

Nope, for me personally I would like my dogs in AC comfort not fighting the wind buffering they get if they stayed on the bed.

That pic makes me realize even black fender flares can't save that hideous front end. They're taking away the very desirable squared off, FJ inspired, front end shape with this redesign.
Fail.
Might as well bolt a few surfboards in the back.
