2014 trail edition making noise near rear axle with key off

I recently purchased a 2014 trail edition. Love it so far. I went outside tonight and it was making a buzzing noise near the rear tires. Key was out of the ignition and it was locked. My first idea is that it was the motor in the rear hatch. I thought maybe my wife had done something??? I opened and closed the hatch but the noise still remained. I then started it up pulled it up my driveway and back down, turned it off and the noise is gone. Any idea off what may have caused the noise??? It has kds suspension as well. Thanks for any ideas! Just worried something might burn up or kill the battery.

Evaporative emissions leakage check.

It's normal, and it should be mentioned in your owners manual.
