2014 Tundra has 4R headlights, steering wheel

2014 Tundra looks like it borrowed design cues from 4R headlights and stole the steering wheel. Keeping with Toyota's conservative approach to trucks, new Tundra gets mild exterior revisions but whole new interior and, sadly, no diesel or turbo engine option, just the same engines as before, though 5.7 is mated to 6 spd.

Those looking for changes to 4R in 2014 might lower their expectations based on the first major revision to Tundra in 7 years.

Much nicer interior- but the exterior? meh. I liked it better before the redesign. Wheels are hideous too.

the T4R (5th gen) headlights were made to look more like the FJ for a tougher clean look. later the Highlander followed, now the tundra similar lights but not the same.

I love the inside except the jeep liberty vents, I was expecting an SR5 with a scooped hood this year since Toyota is still pretty liberal with its scooped (looking) hoods..

I would drive it, but honestly I would prefer the current body style.

I love it, both inside and out. It still looks like a man's truck. I'm just glad Toyota didn't put the 2012+ Tacoma treatment on the front end.

Toyota may be a little too conservative at this point.

The Tundra really needs a diesel engine at this point if Toyota wants to really compete with the big 3. Nothing bad to say about it, but it just doesn't seem like enough to be worth talking about. I imagine this will translate over to the Sequoia?

The tundra has had a 6 spd for a while now. The whole drive train is the same

agreed. the boxy, 4Runner-esque lines would've only worked if the designers had gone whole-hog. grafting them onto the previous rounded, bulbous curves gives it a personality disorder.

and that grill—yikes. can't put my finger on it exactly...

looks much more in keeping on the color-keyed Platinum Edition, however.

I thought they moved the gear stick to the steering column, and now they are moving it back to the center?

On bench front seats if has a column shift, on front bucket seats it has a console shifter.

Those are TRD offroad package wheels, I think. I prefer the current TRD offroad wheels, though. Considering all the black wheels on 4Runners in this forum, I think they'll sell well.

There are some rumors about a diesel in a year or two, but nothing concrete. I don't know that 1/2 ton diesels will ever take off in the US simply because the NOx emission requirements mean that you need urea injection or similar nonsense. Plus, this additional emission equipment has hurt reliability in diesels as well.

Sequoia is dead from what I'm hearing. Bringing a downmarket Land Cruiser instead.

Looks like I'll be keeping my '07 Tundra....I'm disappointed with the new one. I think they made some poor design decisions in taking too many design cues from the big 3. I especially dislike how "TUNDRA" has been stamped into the sheet metal on the tailgate - going to be a PITA to debadge that one!

Very disappointing that this is only a cosmetic upgrade rather than a fully reengineered truck.

And Ford called - they want their interior back.
