It looks like they knocked $180 MSRP off the price of the Entune Premium with NAV. Otherwise, I haven't seen any meaningful changes (which isn't necessarily bad).

Of course there's a shiny new "5" in the model year replacing that antiquated looking "4".
I'm pretty sure its now included with 2015's, they even have a picture of it in the brochure and the dealer told me that the new black paint code and the hitch cover were the only two noted changes on the 4runner.

What exactly did you expect?
From '03-'09 the 4th gen only really had a handful of major/minor updates.
-Late model '03 2UZ-FE vehicles got their own frame mounted hitch vs. the 1GR-FE's hitch plate
-'04+ 2UZ-FE transmissions went to sealed WS ATF, as well as the end of plastic side cladding and a few colours were dropped
-'05 Saw VVTi added to the 2UZ-FE and a 5-spd sealed transmission added to the 1GR-FE
-'06 Saw a mid-cycle refresh
-'09 Saw the Urban Runner and Trail Edition trims
For the most part aside from one or two things like an update front differential bracket and a mildly redesigned (but functionally similar) hydraboost unit, the vehicles did not change much within their generation.
The 5th gen's big changes have mainly been dropping the 2.7L I4 engine after '10; the switch to Entune headunits, and the midcycle refresh that included some minor interior updates if I remember right.

After losing the 4th or 5th one on my Tundra, I looped a piece of speaker wire through mine so it'd be held in with the pin. Haven't lost one since.
I bought the hitch safe DWM. It has a locking slide mechanism you can put a key, cash, or credit card in while you swim, etc., and you use a locking pin to keep the whole thing from "disappearing" from your hitch. It sticks out from under the bumper a little bit and looks better that way IMHO.

TRD I never learned how to post pictures and have to get help. However next week or so they're supposed to be changing out some final factory parts for the AMP Research power running board my rig was used as a test bed for.
That's when AMP will also be sending an E-Mail to dealers announcing their steps are available for T4R's. So watch for a thread I'll put up with photos of the final product, and will include the back bumper and hitch safe with it.
As to the quality of the hitch safe, that's very good. Not a speck of rust or corrosion, and no failures or jam in the locking mechanism in a couple years now.
With regard to security I suppose someone could use a crow bar or something serious to try and pop out the sliding drawer. However that's going to attract a lot of attention. I don't think something subtle like a screw driver is going to be effective.
In reality the hitch safe's real security feature is stealth. That is it looks very much OEM, like a mere rubber hitch cover. Unless a thief is a T4R affectionado or goes over your rig very carefully looking for something unusual, the chances are they're not going to realize it's even there.
What I do is have it all installed and ready to go, with the drawer and rubber cover sitting right inside the back door. Then as we're unloading I set what we're taking (like a surf board, cooler, etc.) right next to the hitch along with the rubber cover, and palm the sliding drawer as I close up the back.
I walk over to lock the drivers door, then while walking back slip the key into the slider. As I pick up the gear I'm quickly putting the slider into the hitch...spinning the numbers, then poping the rubber cover on.
That's takes all of about three seconds and is masked as I'm picking up the gear at the same time. A second person can also be reaching down to pick stuff and further muddy the water for anyone watching.

Maz - Thanks for the great input! Well said and gives me an idea of how it can be used to some degree of security. Not impervious, yet for most events such as surfing, swimming and limited runs of a few hours, it should be great! I think you pushed me over the fence to get one now. Always liked the idea of it, but never pulled the trigger. Thanks for your time.
