no idea. i was rather surprised. a couple are pretty obviously errant rocks, but the light ones that can't be felt with the fingernail, not sure. I've got various polishing compounds that I could've used to try and buff them out, but felt like that would be pulling one over on the buyer. so i left them as is and made them look as bad as I could in the pictures. In the pictures, you can see what they look like in everyday lighting vs. up close and personal with light reflecting. And looking at the EXIF data, you can see that the pictures were taken on a Sunday and Monday, so it's not like there was a ton of time in between the photos to try to throw off a potential buyer.

FWIW, my TE wheels have light scratches as well. They show in some light conditions and most the time not at all. They do seem to scratch easy though.
