Tightened the gas cap (Was tight, just confirmed twice), re started (Multiple times), does not seem to be in Limp Mode.

Filled up on Sunday, no other issues, Just happened on the way to work today. I wont have time to get to the dealer this week unless this is an emergency.

I tried my code scanner, but could not get it to connect (Grrrr.)

What sayeth the collective?

Why not bring it to dealer?

Remove gas cap, then put it back on. It only needs 1 click.

You can try removing battery connection, then reconnect to see if it resets.

Before you take it to the dealer, take it to a local auto parts store to get the code read, if yours doesn't work. It is pretty hard to determine the severity of the issue without the code.

X2 take it to the dealer, truck is brand new it'll be covered under warranty.

Same thing happened to girlfriends Corolla (out of warranty). Disconnect battery for 30 min and reconnect. If light doesn't come back on after driving a day, I'd chalk it up to gas cap not being tight. But to be safe, take it to dealer since it's probably under warranty.

I currently have a similar issue. If you are able to read the code prior to going to the dealer, you'll what you are in for. But, unlike me, it should still be covered under warranty.

The dealer was out as I have no time this week to go. I work in the exact opposite direction.

I do have a scanner tool but I could not get it to connect in the AM before work and had no time until after to try again. BUT after work I got it to connect and got (forgot the exact code) but evap system. I cleared the code, drove home and it has not come back. Seems like it might have been the cap, but I filled up Sunday, and no issues until Tuesday AM.

So thanks for the thoughts, hoping it does not come back.

I hate going to the dealer for simple things, make an appt, wait an hour to be seen, then another hour, then get talked to like a moron for the loose cap (which was not loose) lol.

Chris, correct my gf said she filled up a few days before and the light didnt come on until she was close to empty. Her's has not come back on after we cleared it last week. Best of luck.

I woke up to this this morning, CEL, TRAC OFF & and the green multi terrain light is flashing. Sure enough my gas cap was loose. I tightened it but I still have all the lights

If and when you leave the cap loose and the lights go on they will not go off magically when you tighten the cap. You either have to clear codes or drive it for a few days till the car does all the self checks on itself and will go away, however not right when you tighten the cap

That's what I figured. I have an appointment with the dealer for Monday morning, should probably just go ahead and cancel it.

Did this fix the issue? My CE, trac off and multi terrain button were all on today . I retightended the gas cap. Hoping it corrects the codes

Fixed - CEL, TRAC OFF, Limp Mode

Contacted dealer and got the usual. Leave the code, bring it in, don’t touch anything.

I unscrewed gas cap and reswrewed to one click. Popped hood and disconnected battery and let it sit for a few minutes to clear codes. Restarted and everything is good to go!!!!

is this issue covered under basic warranty (30k/3yrs) or under drivetrain warranty (50k/5yrs)?

happened to me this morning. was able to check gas cap and it’s tight. but wasn’t able to disconnect battery bc i was already late to work. i’ll check when i get home from work.

asking about the warranty coverage, thanks.

There is no way I would work for a company that does not provide leave to take off work for personal issues. Why even work if you chained to a job?
