Substantiate?

Toyota training event. On top of that, Toyota safety sense P will be standard on every Toyota (larger then the Prius C, Toyota is, Toyota iM) EXCEPT the 4 runner by the end of the year. Why do you think that is?

If you all knew how much I love the 4Runner you'd know I'm not making this shit up.

I read the TSSP info here: Toyota Safety Sense
.... and I edited your post (2017).

I could argue that since Toyota will not include TSSP for the 2017 4R, that it does indeed signal a remodel for 2018. i.e. "why make significant manufacturing/engineering changes to a model that changes next year?"

And as to your training event, there are lots of Toyota sales (and otherwise) people on here, and you are the only one drawing these conclusions.

I don't find your conclusions compelling.

I don't think you want to. Especially when this info comes directly from Toyota.

Are you saying the 4runner will cease to exist entirely?

Yes. It most likely won't be redesigned. It will probably be cut by 2020 at the latest. Apparently we may see the Toyota Prada over here to replace it, but that I'm unsure of.

Sigh. Show me a genuine Toyota document from sales or engineering stating the 4Runner will not be offered. If you can't, then you are guessing just like everyone else.

Also on your document there is nothing for Tacoma's or Tundra. Maybe they will discontinue those too...

No you are incorrect. I said end of the year, not every 2017 model year.. By end of 2017 all models will have some form of TSS. Smaller cars will have TSSC and anything corolla or bigger will have TSSP.

So would you like to wager?

I said end of 2017. Not model year. By end of 2017 the Tacoma and tundra will have TSSP standard. It's a game changer in the industry. The 4Runner won't have it because they won't be redesigning it.

Show me some documentation.

I have heard this same crap in 1985 on the 1st Gen I owned.

I heard this same crap in 2000 before the 4th gen came about.

By 2007 I had friends who worked in engineering at Toyota. Heard the same crap then... 4th gen was the last blah blah blah.

Now I have been hearing in in 2012, 2014, 2016 and now this same rumor. See why I might be a bit skeptical?

I drove a new 1984 4Runner off the showroom floor and since then, even though not owning a 3rd or 4th gen I came back with a vengeance owning multiple 5th gens.

Yes, the 4Runner is not going to be around forever. The automotive world is littered with discontinued models. With that said, the 4Runner is almost a legend for Toyota's reliability and durability and go anywhere spirit. Will the 5th gen be the last? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe it will go the Tacoma route ( that truck was cancelled many times according to all the automotive pundits) and go nine years before a redesign.

You have no idea. I have no idea. You want to bet but betting is a fool's game. I had a few math classes in engineering that will prove that fact.

So again, show me proof or move on.

I can't speak on previous rumors. What automotive publication has stated that there won't be a 6th gen 4Runner? It was suppose to be 2016, then 2017, and now you all are convinced it's 2018. I wish it was gunna be redesigned as well, but from my sources it will not be.

Again, you say you don't believe me but you won't put any money down to support your claim.

2020 is most likely gunna be the last year the 4runner will be sold new. 2019 is a more likely number though.

I'm just getting you all ready. I for one will buy the last model year and hold onto it. Most likely will sky rocket in resale value just as the FJ did.

Just as I thought. No proof. Goodbye.

I love people like you. No I did not sit there and record what was told to me. I wish there was a way we could make a wager so I could take your money in a few years. Believe it or not time will show you the truth.

And I like people like you. People who join the forum today, make a few posts on this subject and that's the only contribution they make. You are not the 1st. You are like the 50th who come here spouting prophecy over the years.

The people who know the future of the 4Runner and could post documentation would never do it. NDA'S and all that.

Have fun and good luck.
