And I like people like you. People who join the forum today, make a few posts on this subject and that's the only contribution they make. You are not the 1st. You are like the 50th who come here spouting prophecy over the years.

The people who know the future of the 4Runner and could post documentation would never do it. NDA'S and all that.

Have fun and good luck.

Just cautioning people. Have a good day! I wonder if you'll think back to this in the next few years when Toyota makes an official response.

I'm in an industry that is supposed to keep stuff under wraps. Sometimes it is, sometimes it's not. It's a 4Runner. Not classified military information. Who cares?

Lol there are commercial secrets that are guarded tighter than the military secrets. I went to a meeting several months ago with a large off Highway equipment manufacturer to discuss future projects and planning. I had to sign 12 different non disclosure agreements.

I don't think you want to. Especially when this info comes directly from Toyota.

OK mouth, I might be the one to call your bluff. So exactly what would the bet be. You are saying that the 4runner will not be redesigned correct?. And how exactly would the money be handled ? Exactly what date will the bet be settled.
I happen to work at Toyota and have some friends pretty high up in Toyota they're interested in your wager as well. Would your bet go to more than one person , would you be willing to bet multiple people ? what's your dollar amount cap.
Would you be willing to escrow the money now and winner take all at a predetermined date or when the new 4Runner info hits.

Ford announced at the Detroit Auto Show that the Bronco will return in 2020.

"If you look at that rugged SUV segment, over the last five years it’s like the second-fastest-growing segment within SUVs." -Mark Fields, Ford CEO.

Seems like 2020 would be the perfect time for a redesign of the 4runner. If you think Toyota is going to kill the 4Runner and let Ford takeover that segment, you're crazy.

Ford Bronco will ride again, says CEO Mark Fields at Detroit auto show

Edit: Forgot to mention, the Bronco will be BOF so hopefully that puts some pressure on Toyota to avoid the switch to unibody. The New Ford Bronco Will Be A Real Body-On-Frame SUV

2020 would be late for a 4Runner redesign the 4th gen was 2002-2009, the 5th gen was 2009-present. We have 8 model years of 5th gen at this point, 10 model years would be too much IMO. I think a 2018 6th gen with a facelift to compete with the Bronco would make more sense as I don't think Toyota wants to compete head on with the hype the Bronco being revived would create. If you were a buyer who would consider both and the 2018 4Runner is awesome, they might sway you to commit to 4Runner instead of waiting another couple years for Bronco... If you have a 2020 6th Gen 4Runner or the Bronco, a lot of people are choosing Bronco.

Where did you read this or are you connecting likely dots? I'm always excited to see our segment getting some love. The Bronco concept is pretty killer. It would be nice to see them stay rugged. I can remember following the FJs rise to market and look forward to watching the Bronco come. I've enjoyed the Raptor and new GM offerings in their truck lines. I've been burned by US automakers so it's very hard for me to consider the purchase, but I like the story line!

Mod Note:
Please do not make this thread into the Next Gen 4Runner thread. If you do I will lock it.

There is already a thread on this subject in the General discussion section.

On the Bronco....

Don't forget the FT-4X trademark Toyota recently acquired. I don't know if it will be a new vehicle or possibly bringing back another 4x4, but I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with the Bronco competition.

Also,

I bet the Bronco price point will be nutty. Like 55-60k nutty. A fully loaded Ford Flex is in the 50's now.

I wonder if the Broncho will have 5 engine options like the F 150 will. Ford could very likely snag a huge market share from Toyota if Toyota thinks the can keep milking every product without anything new to offer.
