2017 4runner (no 6th gen)

When do new year models usually come to dealerships? August/September ish?

the earliest 16 on any lot in the pittsburgh area was Sept 15 last year...
toyota likes to deplete the previous model year inventory before shipping current model year during the transition. This prevents dealers having to heavily discount the previous my's to get rid of them...

Yeah, like the KDSS all of those pre-production pros had on them, too.

Before the 5th was released, Toyota said that the Trail was going to be full time 4WD. At this point I would not believe anything until the actual units arrive. It does not surprise me that there is no sunroof on the TRD. Toyota knows it will be rare and people will pay more for it. It is likely the highest margin 4Runner that they currently sell. Taking out the sunroof is not going to be a deal breaker for 99% of PRO buyers, so why spend the money to include it.

That's because it was a TEP with the orange paint and the TRD pro badging and suspension. They didn't actually build a whole new configuration for it at the time.

So I'm thinking about getting a 2016 Limited 4*4 and wondering if I should wait till the 2017 are introduced to see if any substancial changes are coming. Would any of you wait or go ahead? Really a head scratcher for me. The dealer tells me no plans but I take that with a grain of salt. Thanks.

Anyone considering buying a new car now of any kind without automatic collision braking is crazy. This is the biggest breakthrough since the airbag. All cars will have this very soon and many have it now. I will never buy a car again that does not have this truly amazing feature.

Oh, let me also mention that I looked at the "base" Lexus GX and really considered it but it seems so outdated inside and does not include rain sensor wipers (I know the 4Runner doesn't either), heated and cooled seats or nav. Plus the silly rear hatch and no retractable rear window.

It's already been well discussed here that the 5th gen will continue into 2017. I find it unlikely that they will make drastic changes without a refresh or redesign.

I looked up previous cement Toyotas and the 2017 pictures look much more blue than grey. I don't know if that was the lighting or not. If it is on the blue side, I really want to trade my 2014 SR5P in on it. Before I bought mine, I was looking hard for a used shoreline blue 4runner but nothing had low enough miles for my liking.

Cool color! Too bad they will be as impossible to come by as they are now. I cant even find a TEP in mag grey to buy. Dealer is trying to order one, but no confirmation yet.

my local dealer just let me put down a deposit to order a trail edition premium. said they re still building them and it will be about 6-8 weeks. I'm assuming toyota will fill all orders before shutting down for retooling.

There's nothing to retool. The 2017 is literally the same exact vehicle as the 2016. One day they'll be making 2016s, the next day 2017s.
