2017 Armada

So I hate to even admit that I'm looking forward to the 2017 update, but I can't wait for them to hit the dealer lots to go check one out in person. (Yes I know just go look at an Infiniti..) Once the lease is up on our Outback we've looked into getting into the larger SUV market, my wife favors Denali but I detest GM products. She hates Fords, so we've been at an impasse. I really love Toyotas, but Sequoias just suck all the way around. I just wish they would have thrown in some of the off-road love from the Patrols overseas.

Having owned 2 Suburbans I think the Yukon Denalis are fantastic. I was actually looking for a Suburban/Yukon XL 4wd when I stumbled across my TE. Even with the 4R I still miss certain attributes of my last Suburban. Lots of power, would actually do burnouts with the Posi-trac rearend and get sideways under the right conditions... kind of like a giant Camaro.

The 2017 Armada is the ROTW Patrol this time. Just re-badge it and you have a Patrol. It will likely be able to use ROTW Patrol aftermarket parts.

Off-road, the 2017 Nissan Armada is a mixed bag. It will easily handle off-camber hills, deep ruts while driving over soft sand and fairly steep hills. With 9.1-inches of ground clearance, the 2017 Nissan Armada has an ideal ride height compromise for on and off-road performance. In most off-road conditions, it works like a 4X4 should; however, there are a couple of issues. There is no way (no button, no switch) to lock the rear axle and there is no hill-descent control either. Still, the overall performance off-road is better than many competitors.

As far as the hill descent control - drive better.
As for the locker, they save that for the Infiniti but you can always ARB Air Locker it.

That's actually what led me to this post. My wife likes the Infiniti but I can't stand the extra styling cues, figure we could maybe pick up one of those Armadas for cheaper. I'll be interested to see how the pricing will break down in comparsion to competitors.
