2017 hatch speakers

I've tried searching and can't find an answer for the 2017 only the prior models with party mode button. Are the hatch speakers wired in series with the rear door speakers? I am planning on amping the rear door speakers which I have replaced through the factory wiring which I don't think would be a good idea if it amplifies the stock hatch speakers too

If it helps I replaced front door speakers and rear door speakers. I have 4 channel amp to power them. On the rear hatch speaker I run them off the pioneer deck.

I am keeping the factory deck so that doesn't help as I assume you ran new wires.

Hi scotsman,

Yes... the hatch speakers and rear door speakers ARE wired together 'In Series'

rig, cheers

Darn I installed 4ohm speakers in the rear doors and I believe the hatch speakers are 4 ohm with a final load of 8ohm.

"It's party mode all the time!"

Hi scotsman,

Well... not really: In 'Party mode', the rear door speakers are disconnected leaving the tailgate speakers to handle the cargo area alone, which as you know leaves a total of 4ohm impedance. But if you're not satisfied with using an 8ohm total resistance you still have the option pulling your own speaker wires to the tailgate and rear doors and running a 2ohm total impedance just like the front speaker system is to this day... just be sure to back-off of the volume if/when the low-end starts to distort; which is an indication that the (very low output) power amps are starting to be overdriven (at 20W RMS/channel, no harm will come to the amps)!

Here's a thread that explains how the "Party Mode" system was wired http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/171794-party-mode-tweak-non-jbl.html Hope this info helps, 'Best to you',

lame, my 2017 doesnt have the party button.

Hi stikky,

I can't say that we know each other, but if you'll trust me just this once you'll find that you came out a winner! ...you see, the 'Party Mode' system was a HUGE MISTAKE on many levels; so much so that in 2014 Toyota did away with that system to improve the truck's sound LOL!

PS: Count your blessings brother, 'Best to you',
