If that's reaction to Voodoo, yup I agree. I think it should have been Army Green like lots of people thought. I don't know much about the Fox Shock setup yet or how it compares/improves upon the current Bilstein setup but otherwise seems Like they just phoned it in for another year. I think the color selections for 2019 sucks and am at a loss for the variance in tech offering between the three TRD rigs with 4runner not seeing the love on the LED lights and Safety Sense (many don't care about this) or creature comforts like sunroof (which I really want), etc that are available on the Taco and Tundra (or how about even why they can't get blinky side view mirrors on the 4rTRD when all of these things are on it in Canada. So only pros for 2019 TRD 4R seem to be whatever the new Fox setup offers and a rockin new JBL premium sound system.

Mehhh! Give me a redesign please :ybrick: I need something more significant than 2010 til now. Currently you are buying old tech with small changes. Fresh design, LED's, and better tech...Waiting...In meantime, still loving my Pro.
4Runner had a record sales year last year. Toyota is in the business of making profit/money. I'm sure in their mind there was absolutely no reason to throw dollar one at anything new on the current design. Too much money is already being spent on the new redesigned 4Runner unibody tooling.:mullet:

I believe 2017 still fell short of sales for 1997. I'm pretty sure that year is still the record holder for sales.

You have got to love Toyota. Their own press release called it "All New". I get that they are selling well, all SUV's crossovers are selling well. When you fall this far behind the current level of development in vehicle engineering, you are going to stay behind. A perfect example is the current Camry. The car had become so soft that even with a complete redo, the also new for 2018 Accord completely embarrasses it. The 4Runner is old and tired. It is going to force me to do something I thought I would never do. Stop by a Jeep dealership......

People keep saying that the 4Runner is selling well and doesn’t need to be touched but this comment is exactly why it does need an update. If Toyota isn’t careful they may cannibalize their own niche. People who bought back in 2009,10,11,12,13 are all pre-refresh. Those are a lot of buyers. Even the ‘14 and ‘15 buyers are now getting 3-4+ years into ownership. Are all those early buyers really going to want to trade in for a “new” 4Runner which is essentially the exact same vehicle? Let’s not forget that most 4Runner buyers aren’t off-roaders either... lots of alternatives. At this point you’re better off spending $25k on a quality used 5th Gen of your liking and then wait until the next Gen comes out..... which will be almost 2 years until dealers see them at the earliest. I wouldn’t want to drop $50k on a new vehicle that is really close to 10 years old only to have a new Gen come out a year or 2 later.
In the mean time, I love my 4Runner. It drives like day 1 when I bought it 5 years ago. However, I won’t trade in for another 5th Gen. It just doesn’t make sense for me personally. Hopefully I don’t do something stupid between now and the 6th Gen but my eye has been wandering...

"force" you?? LOL! An why would you not stop by a Jeep dealership? The Jeep Wrangler is a great vehicle.
I can hang fire one more year. I suppose I should spent the year letting go of the idea of a 4Runner and warming up to the notion of JL Rubicon in my future. Or maybe a JGC/Trailhawk.
So you'd trade in a vehicle that rides pretty well for one that rides like shit?
Grand Cherokee rides pretty well. And I don't think folks who've driven the JLs characterize the ride as you do.
Wrangler is the only jeep I would consider. Especially when that diesel comes out.

My lady and I are holding it one more year as well. Hoping MY 2020 does is well. I’m seriously having her consider Jeep GC High Altitude/Trailhawk or Ford Explorer at this point. I’ll still have my taco, but this is just taking to damn long. I love the exterior of the face lifted fifth gen and would buy simply for that. But we want a possible third row. We want Apple car play. We want power lift gate. We want BSM and lane departure. We want better looking leather seats. We want a center gauge cluster with an operational user face. We want HID/Led headlights etc. etc. Lirerally every other manufacture is doing these things. Including Kia. I grew up with a family always buying Toyota’s because of the reliability and the “investment” into a vehicle. But I’m just about over their lack of innovation. I’ve always hated Jeeps but it’s the closest thing to all of our “wants” and “needs” and this point. I’m genuinely bummed.
