2019 TRD Pro's

I received some information on the new 2019 4Runners based on the dealership order guide (June 2018) info provided by my dealer in Canada.

Looks like there is also a new Nightshade 7-Passenger model which basically is mostly an aesthetic upgrade with black trim pieces, and with automatic running boards.

TRD Pro model has the items mentioned from the news release in February, except this Canada ordering guide has no mention of the JBL audio system. They typically highlighted anything new in yellow, and no mention whatsoever. Maybe it's one of those things where Canada gets shafted on, who knows. Hopefully we can get some clarification in the next month or so when pricing is available.

Using that logic they would still be using the 22-RE and a 4 speed auto. It is selling well(As most SUV's) and see no reason to change it I guess.

...And I am sure that would be completely acceptable to a lot of folks if the price tag were $16,500 new. ;): :biggrin1:

I know for a fact LC70 series trucks would sell like hot cakes if they were available here :)

Is Nightshade a pro trim? I can’t see a 3rd row wanted by anyone wanting a pro.

Also, if Canada doesn’t get JBL, at least they’ll still get their sunroof we can’t get in the US.

Funny you are the only other person to mention that :) I thought it was pretty glaringly obvious too :D I guess most just care about the special color and how much more 1337 the TRDP is :biggrin1:
I had to quickly identify the thing that they were trying to distract us from, with that obnoxious roof rack.

Is the TRD Pro worth the extra money? I like the appearance package, although it is a tad gimmicky. The whole blacked out thing is getting a little out of hand.

It’s worth it if you plan on keeping the TRD suspension. It’s worth it if you’re willing to pay MSRP just for the color. Must you have what is considered “the best” of everything? Do you thrive on elitism? Is it just freaking cool and you want one?

Value is subjective, much like our individual propensities to spend or save. There are as many reasons a PRO is worth it to some as there are reasons it’s not worth it to others. Like it? Buy it. I had the opportunity to buy two, a White and a Calvary Blue, but I passed because I wanted a sunroof.

I love the way they look, and could have probably lived without the sunroof for a Cement PRO. Ended up with a TRD ORP and use the sunroof pretty much daily, so I’m content with my choice.

I say go for it if it checks all your boxes.

I agree that value is relative. Since mine will be an employee lease I don't expect to do any mods (well anything that cant be easily undone) so the PRO made sense for me. Plus I am excited for the Voodoo blue, although I would have rather had Cavalry.

Only if the special color was the army green like the FJ since they seem to hold their value better than white or black. Another blue doesn't make sense though. Just my .02

Hi guys,

Just put a deposit on a 2019 TRD Pro today. This will be my first Toyota.

Anyway, chose Voodoo Blue for lack of any other option really. Am going to do a full wrap on the vehicle anyway but wanted to have the heritage color.

The dealership made no mention of an audio upgrade (this is Canada), they don't know much at this stage. Fox suspension, roof rack, LED fog lights(low beams?) and something else minor that's slipped my mind were the only upgrades/changes they mentioned. Plan to do some upgrades anyway and the roof rack will likely come off, lighting will change, etc.

Looking forward to driving one of these babies eventually as it'll be my early retirement present, likely and hopefully the last vehicle I'll own in this life, one of the reasons I went with a proven, rock-solid platform and boatloads of support. A long search for a vehicle that will not only serve me well but make me excited to own it every time I look at it has led me here and i can't wait to start loving one of these things.

Thanks for the very impressive forums and we'll be seeing you in here, have learned a lot already which helped me make my choice.

By the way, can anyone recommend good sources for parts/mods/mechanical services for these trucks in and/or around Vancouver, B.C.? Thanks a lot!

Cheers

I agree. Guy on my street has a green FJ, good color. That said, 4 out of the last 5 times I went to the town landfill (dump) somebody has commented to me how sharp my vehicle looks (its stock, cavalry blue). Last guy pointed to his Tundra and asked if I would trade. Yep, it's my garbage hauler.

Nice choice on Toyota, idk if I'll ever get anything else after owning my first couple

Thanks but will believe it if/when I see it, getting one seems like more of a lottery than anything else? ;)

I have a buddy that work for a dealer in PA and he told me that the "waiting list" for a PRO is like a year. I think I'll just get an offroad premium, put the black wheels with Nittos, and opt for the KDSS. I have heard great things about on and offroad performance for the KDSS and the wheel/tire add on from toyota is actually cheaper than going for a kit from tire rack.
