2020 package combination limitations?

Hey yall,
Disappointed to see what some dealerships were claiming about the 2020 packages. Based on the new vehicle configurator, package combinations do not seem as robust as 2019.

For example, you can do:
  • Sliding rear cargo deck
  • Moonroof
  • KDSS
  • KDSS + moonroof

Unlike the past, you can't do:
  • KDSS + moonroof + cargo deck
  • Cargo deck + any other of the above features

I had my sights set on the combo of KDSS + moonroof + cargo deck, which seems unlikely now. I liked the cargo deck mostly because of the ability to lay flat.

Do we think it would likely stay this restricted? Or wait out this first batch of inventory and see what happens?

In my experience, the configurator isn't so much something that will show you what is possible as it is what is available on a lot somewhere. (For instance, when I try to select certain color combinations on the configurator, it will tell me "out of stock")

You should see what our Hawaii config looks like since forever.

Optional Package B

Get the big stuff like KDSS+Moonroof and then try to work a deal as part of the purchase to have the dealer install the cargo deck...If your dealer is hungry, you might get it a bit cheaper. Or make your own.

As we’ve discussed on other threads, the “configurator” is really just an “in stock mouldering on a lot somewhere”-urator.

Best not to even touch it until mid-October, when there might be some stock on lots.

In a hurry to get it the way you want it? Go talk to a human salesperson.

As I found out, what I had originally ordered "wasn't available" according to the configurator and Toyota was stalling on it - for some reason they didn't want to allow all of the options I had wanted. But, in the end, they did it as the thing they were hanging up on is a port installed option, not factory...so best advice is to contact your dealer directly and have them help you get things sorted out.

Good suggestion - had tried this with my local dealer and they insisted they can't install the deck nor is it a thing anyone else does.

You're right, seems best to wait and not trust this thing. Unfortunately my local dealership is rarely hungry :mmph:

Thanks. They've been insisting the cargo deck can't be port installed and only want to sell from their inventory. Probably not in their interest to offer anything besides that, yet.

The moon roof is meh. I use the rear window for ventilation. The cargo deck requires a lot of part changes and I far as I know is factory installed, not port or dealer installed.

I was just on Kauai for a couple weeks, and couldn't believe how many 5th gen T4Rs I saw. That said, probably 95% were SR5 4WD, with a sprinkling of Limited, Pro and ORP.
