$22,000 to build a 3.4??!!

I'm calling shennanigans. As much as I would love to have 300 hp to the wheels in my T4R, if those are in fact true numbers...I know I could do something even more amazing to my T4R with $22k!!! Heck, I can pick up a fully equipped LS9 out of a ZR1 Vette for under $20k! Imagine the possibilities!!!!

Well, if you paid full price for brand new parts on everything and included labor costs, yeah, around $20k sounds right.
 
That motor can make a LOT more power than 300 hp. Bring that boost up to 15-20 lbs and with some tuning you'll be in the 5-600 range.

On a side note. Do you have a pimped out crv?!!! My dad has a 2000.
 
For that much $$ I can get a LS7 swap supercharged with over 500hp.
Too bad the rear end will blow up once I step on it. :(
 
well considering an LCE long block is $12-13k yeah thats about right for the motor if it was all new, i mean go to the dealer and buy a new TRD SC and your looking at like $3-4k then new supra injectors at like $300 x6... yeah. and no that motor will not make 5-600hp with 15-20 lbs of boost, you would destroy the SC or the pistons, you would need to do something with the coil packs and some heavy fuel upgrades.

all and all i think the guy is hopeing to get $7k for that motor but in reality his market is so narrow, and of that narrow market its been cut down drastically by the fact that its advertised on CL and not Ebay or somewhere where the entire world can have a chance at it... i think he will be lucky to get $5k because hardly anyone will need or want or appreciate that motor. guys who race competitively wont buy it, cause they will want to build all their own motors, so the only one who will buy it will be someone looking to get into racing and or someone who has more money than brains... having said that, if i had $ 7k laying around that i didnt know what to spend it on, id own that motor right now.
 
The builder went with a long block; look where the oil filter is.

Why one would want such in a 3rd gen 4runner or 2nd gen Tacoma is beyond me unless one had a 5spd behind it.

He's got a 98, paid next to nothing for it, but is slowly fixing it up. Prelude Leather Heated seats, lowered on coilovers, 3" Exhaust, and going to be doing a turbo on a fresh motor. The car needs some work, but is getting there.... :)

That's halarious!! But seems pretty cool. But id still take him in my dads nova ss with a small block 400 and headers. :lookout:

If it was out of a 2wd, 5spd Tacoma then 300rwhp is a conservative number for 7lbs pulley and all that extra work.

Mine made 253rwhp/284tq on a hot hot day with nothing other than a 2.2" pulley, the URD 6injector kit (out of the box tune, afr was lean as you can see) cat-back exhaust and 166k miles. (Land & Sea dyno)

AH YES!!! there it is! So the dealership did something bad to my motor to where it blew and broke and caused this huge mess! They left my oil cap off of my motor, not only that they left the caps off of my battery. freaking morons! Well... I hit a bump which caused that battery acid to spill all over. I think some of it got inside the motor and caused the engine to seize. The dealership said they would replace the motor and i have a $7500 spending limit for the motor. and then....

I woke up :(
 
With a LC block and rotating assembly you could easily hit $22K. But the add doesn't say that. I just built my motor this last year with almost the exact same parts listed and my long block was under 3k assembled by the best machine shop in Tucson. The difference is that porting heads can run big money but I don't think 18k. I already had my supercharger and had it totally re-manufactured including new impeller coating, I added URD 7th injector set up, stage 2 clutch as well as sonically balancing all injectors and my total cost for the whole project is under 5k with zero miles not 30k. I don't know what my truck will dyno but that is in the future for a good tune with the 2.2 pulley. Not trying to bash the guy but 7k is way to much IMHO.

JUST no.

I got a qoute for a compete rebuild from a very high end place (which i cant name as I'd like to keep my discount) my buddy works there and he could do it for $2200. ( Remove and Install is 1400 more)

Cost on parts, plus labour... for anyone else it would be 3500. Thats is totally done, new pistons, rods, total seal rings, valves, top and bottom end...with warentee

Ok Supra injectors and oversized valves... a little more but...

$22,000 sounds a bit rediculous for 300 tiny horses.

I guess if you add the supercharger being 4000 or more new..perhaps 7500. but $22,000???
