265/75R-16 and Clearance

Hey all, I've been looking at some new tires and there seems to be more options available in 265/75R-16. My 4runner came with 265/70R-16. Has anyone had a clearance problems or was th75R stock for some years/models? Anyway my 98 runner is not lifted and I don't plan on it. I know this tire is only slightly bigger and it looks like there's room, but thought I would ask here first...

They should fit just fine.

I have an 02 and when I bought mine the suspension was pretty well sagged.
I put 265/75s on her and have no clearance or rubbing issues.
 
I get very slight rubbing on the frame at full lock to the left but nothing of concern. I have stock, but new suspension.
 
I just put 265/75/16's on my stock '98. The only issue I've ever had was pulling quickly into a parking lot going left I got a very slight rub. Never before that and nothing since. The drive way had a hell of a dip in it too.
 
265/75R16 is widely accepted as "the biggest tire you can put on a stock 3rd gen 4runner without any rubbing issues"

Go with that size. You'll be fine.
 
Yep. You should be fine with 265/75 from what I have read.

All though my 2000 T4R rubs at full lock hitting a bump with factory size 265/70/16...? I have 208k on original suspension with fairly new tires.
 
Thanks for the replies. My suspension is new, but close to stock. The 265/75 does have a few more options. According to the tire guys it's a bit more common size now than the 265/70.
 
Well, I guess I'm the odd man out on this one. I just put 265/75R16 Revo 2s on my 2002 4Runner and it rubs on the driver side inner fender starting at about 50% of lock. If I hit a bump with the wheel turned it's terrible. I do have 16x8 rims on mine so that may be attributing. 100K miles on the stock suspension, so it's not exactly new.

I'm doing a 2" lift to remedy and plan to install it this upcoming weekend.

Hmm, wonder if the offset is a bit different with the 16x8 wheel. Maybe a wheel spacer might help..... curious to know if the lift does the trick.

That could be. I have Level 8 MK6 wheels with a 0 inch offset and 4.5" of BS. They offered -10 offset, but I went with the 0 as that's what Discount Tire recommended.
 
If you have fender flares you may want to get some screws that will sit flush rather than the stock bolt heads. Mine only rubs at full flex while turning, but it's rubbing on a flat surface so, no harm no foul.
 
Clearance

I just put on Firestone Winterforce UV 265/75/16 on my 2000 Limited and no rubbing at all. I highly recommend these and only paid $124.00 each. Unbelievable traction in snow/ice.

Good info on the tire sizes, Thanks. I'm still running my 265/70/16s. Got them siped so I'll try them through the winter and see how it goes.
Next spring is a Moab trip, so I may change to something a bit more robust than what I have now..
We'll see how the fun tickets are doing....
