275/65/18 Duratracs

Well, after a lot of reading I went with the Goodyear Duratracs in a 275/65/18 over the BFG ATs. The BFG's would require a month wait as the size is hard to find. I ended up buying the 275/65/18 Duratracs for $946 for a 4 tires shipped from Treadepot.com. I wanted an aggressive looking tire that performed well in all conditions, but also giving a good ride on the highway as this is my daily driver/mountain chariot. They finally arrived and are getting installed today. Here are some before pictures, these tires are beefy for sure. No dooubt I'll have to get rid of the front mud flaps and move forward the inner fender liner. It will be installed with Spidertrax.

I'll report back once installed. I hope this thread helps all those with 18's and wondering...I'm running the 2.5/1.5 Daystar lift.

Without Spidertrax

I've gotten around 55,000 miles on my 265/65/18 BFG A/Ts with 9/16 tread left! Not bad, great tires, I just hope all the hype of the duratracs meets my expectations given how great the BFG's are.

UPDATE:
Got these installed....WOW these are big beefy tires. I get bad rub in reverse and in full lock turn. This will be resolved once the front fender liners are moved forward. First impression on the road...smooth surprisingly. Quiet too in comparison to my BFG's with 55k miles on them. I have them at 31psi and these are still MUCH firmer than the BFG's at 35psi...you feel the bumps a little more on these E rated tires compared to the BFGs. All in all, looks mean.

I just bought the Duratracs 265/70/17 yesterday...expecting them on Friday. I currently have Michelin LTX2 A/T 265/65/17...a buddy of mine uses BFG KOs on his '06 and the KM2s on his '88. Wanted to try something different from the usual. I saw the Duratracs on an '07 Tacoma and they look good. Looking forward to the updated pics bro. Cheers!

I went with the C range...not looking to kill my gas mileage. Plus maybe I can get a few more miles out of the softer tread.

I went with "E" range because I can. And that's the only load they are offered in the 275/65/18. That's what my BFG's were, so I'm not too worried about that.

Right on bro...I thought about getting the 10 ply. I do a lot of driving to Colorado and Minnesota for snowboarding. Can't wait to see your pictures.

Also I'm not sure about the recommended psi for the 6 ply...I'll have to do some digging around.

That looks awesome! Just got confirmation my DS has been shipped....can't wait to get it on. Still trying to figure out how to get a new set of tires, since my current set is only a few months old. Since I have 18's this will be a good option.

Looks really good man. My Terra Grapplers rub at full lock in reverse, on the passenger side too, I need to move the liner. But, it's TOTALLY worth it. Looks fantastic.

Well I thought the Duratracs would be invinsible in the snow, I suppose I got too confident and ended up getting stuck in about 24 inches of snow. Could not get traction, got high centered, and had to call out a snow cat tow vehicle.

Highway driving I find the Duratracs to be ok. They don't seem to be as nimble in handling as the BFG's were, and I find myself driving much slower with the Duratracs on. Milage has also decreased.

All in all, I'd say the BFG's > Duratracs for my needs....but I'll give the GY more time to prove themselves.

Do the spidertrax reduce rubbing or are they just for looks? I've got the same lift and am trying to decide whether to get the 265/65/18 or the 275's. Having trouble deciding. I know i have more choices if i go with the 275's.

I'm running the stock 18's and in order for the 275's to clear the UCA's you have to get spidertrax. Spidertrax also pushes out the tire from the fender, so when turning, you have to trip the fender liners.

Sounds to me like an operator error getting stuck

Props on the candor. It's not often you run into someone being less than enthusiastic about the tires they just bought. With the tread depth and void, snowflake, and Q speed rating, I don't see how they could handle on dry pavement as well as a typical A/T, but I haven't heard anyone say anything along those lines until now.
