285/70/17 tire pressure and vibration

I need some help with the following issues (T4R 03-V8):

- What would be the correct tire pressure on pavement for a 285/70/17 AT KO w/17x9 wheels and 4" lift?

- My truck is vibrating between 45 and 55 MPH, I have been in two different alignment shops and both said that I need a shock stabilizer? Have you use one? What manufacture? Will it help?

Sounds like you have a tire balance problem. You are using a very big tire (if not the biggest possible for you set-up). There are special balancing machines that may be the only machine that can properly balance those tires. Also the tires themselves could be the problem. When all the weights are taken off, how many ounces are required to zero them out? If it is allot (a couple or more), the tires or rims may be the problem. I've seen tires that would not balance no matter what and when they were replaced there was no problem. How old are the tires (how much wear)? Some time a belt can get damaged or shift. When did the vibration start, was something changed? There are many reasons a tire will not balance or stop vibrating. If I had to guess, the tires/rims are the problem.

The tires are new (installed in January'08).

Both places balanced the tires, and mentioned that they are OK.

Should I go to a third place?

Do a search about balance machines (I think it was some type of Hunter machine) or some kind of adapter that is used, not sure.

You might also look into getting a 'road force' balancing done. It cost more, but it could be worth it.

I've had it done on my truck, and it made a world of difference.

The bigger the tires are the harder they are to balance properly.

Also some mfg's seem to be harder to balance and stay balanced. I've run BFG AT's a lot on the past and some of those were really hard to balance out , others were no problem.
