295/70/17 - Anyone remove lower front fender connection point?

I see plenty of write ups about what people are doing to avoid rubbing with the front fender liner and body mounts...but I've searched and can't find anything specific to shaving the lowest front fender connection point altogether.

Has anyone done this? If so, were you able to fabricate a bracket to secure the fender higher up in the wheel well for supporting the fender? Or is the fender secured enough to leave it be?

Here's what I have in mind - I want to completely remove what I have circled below. Discuss.

I cut it right TF out.

I ran into a similar problem. I did the body mount chop and the clearance was still a little tight in that area. I ended up trimming my rocker end cap and hammering the pinch welds inwards toward each other. It worked in my situation.

I cut off those two tabs that stick out

Running 305/70/17, a bit taller and wider than 295/70. Did not cut that mount off, just bent and trimmed it as best we could. It's the only thing keeping the lower portion of the fender in position, try to leave it as is. Push out positive caster to clear it better.

This is perfect - I'm going to go this route first and make sure my caster is set to as close to 5 as possible and go from there.

I ended up taking a sawzall to the metal fender tabs, cut them out and filed them down. So happy I did this as it opened up a lot of space. I no longer rub at all.

Yeah, this about sums it up. You need to cut and remove to fit beef tires.
