so iv been hearing that all air intakes and isr mods are the same if not worse than the stock set up....i put a budget intake on my 2nd gen 3.slow... it was a universal kit made by spectre bought from pep boys i installed it and was stoked on the sound but i didnt feel any power....i know intakes give you 3hp at most on a good cold day downhill but worse than stock??? one pick up i noticed was about 15-20 mpg better off a full tank so...about a whole mpg more....i just wanted to get your opinons on this subject????

you get what you pay for

cold air intakes are a great place to start for adding power and changing sound. but to get full use of that intake you need to get a upgraded exhaust. this will also add to the sound and help the intake breath.

typically speaking, intakes/cold air intakes provide a little extra power in the top end and a lot of times you actually lose a little bit of tq.

intake= little more hp (think merging onto highway), less UMPH from a stand still (off the line).

atleast thats what ive come to understand over the years.
I had a volant cai on my 05 v8, an aem cai on my 00 prelude and will eventually get something for this little 22re. I like tinkering, and either way im not trying to win a single race with this truck so, ITS ALL GOOD!
