2nd gen choices.

I'll be checking out two 2nd gens today, in about an hour actually. One is a 90 5speed with 152k miles($2300), the other is a 92 auto with 225k miles($2900). Both look very clean but neither has maintenance records. Which sounds like a better find/deal. Will be a DD and some weekend trails, fishing, snowboarding, hiking. Decisions, Decisions.:loco:

Thanks for the input.

Thanks guys. Just got back. The girl with the auto couldn't make it so just got to check out the 5 speed. Got there and did a quick walk around before the owner showed up, and everything looked good. Sure it showed its age with some dents and faded paint, but no biggie. Then I looked at the underside. Something was definitely leaking. Had been sitting for only a half an hour and there was a huge puddle of oil just sitting there underneath and still dripping. From the skid plate all the way back to the tranny was covered in what looked like fresh oil, STILL DRIPPING. Then the owner shows up, he says it runs really good and no problems. He fires it up and there's a loud clicking sound from under the intake. He says the PO had forgotten to replace the valve cover gasket, and that he could see the head gasket. I don't know what that means, but it can't be good if you can see the hg right? So sadly I did not drive away as a happy owner of a new to me 4Runner, but ill wait till the next one.

they can't all be winners. but nice catch finding that oildrip. there are tons of 4runners out there, i'm sure you'll find one relatively trouble free. esp. in nevada! keep the faith brother!
