2nd gen tire carrier question. is one hinge enough?

im putting a 2nd gen carrier on my 3rd gen. so is just the bottom hinge enough to hold a 35" tire and more?

They put 2 from the factory for a reason...I guess it depends on how you brace it. Got pics of what your doing?

Depends on what hinge you're using and what the base is. Think about what the weight will be (total of the carrier, wheel/tire, and other items) and gives you a HELL of a moment arm. You're going to need a thick plate base, a very strong hinge, and ridiculously strong hardware to resist shearing bolts.

It'd just be cheaper/more practical to do it with two hinges.
