2UZ TRD Supercharger... Would ya?

Hello all,

So I'm hoping to get some informed opinions from some who've walked this path: I have the opportunity to buy a known good TRD supercharger

Good:
1. $1500 CAD for the "kit"
2. known good, lightly used blower (no reason given yet as to why previous owner removed it)

Bad:
Missing "brackets" (I'm assuming he meant the pulley brackets)

Discussion:
The TRD blower unit apparently was designed with the idea that they could spray excessive amounts of fuel across the rotors and this would create an "intercooling effect", and somehow fuel would magically equalize to all 8 cylinders and not f*ck everything up. We all now know this design was foolhardy at best as that Toyota pulled it off the market years ago.

Conclusion:
Obviously fuel & tuning would be entirely custom because the TRD design is junk. Essentially I'd be buying the blower... for just the blower... Because apparently the pulley brackets are missing, they'd need to be custom made.

I estimate it'd be cheaper to buy the URD kit and import it into Canada. Apparently alot of people have struggled with tuning the TRD unit because of heatsoak caused by the lack of intercooling: essentially the S/C pushes oven-hot air into the runners and it's very difficult to keep EGTs down low enough to avoid burning up the cats and O2 sensors.

Anyway, I wanted to pitch it to you guys and see if anyone had any thoughts on the matter. I can get pictures of the kit next Monday when I go by the shop, if anyone's interested (haha, or cares...)

Thanks for your time and input!

2uzfe supercharging | h-beam connecting rods

You can start here:

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/search.php?searchid=5862301

I think basically the skinny of it is that the factory 2UZFE connecting rods, are not strong enough to hold the pressure. You'd have to get H-Beam connecting rods to beef up the bottom end to make it reliable.

Lextreme shows the size difference between the 1UZ vs 2UZ/3UZ:

TRD Supercharger part#: 00602-17620-610 / S C 03 SUB KIT

Hope that helps. I'm a noob but this is what I've found on here and the net.
