2WD Trail Expeditions

2WD from Santa Barbara

I would be interested in doing an overnight camping trip and/or day trip. No experience but eager to learn! I would love to join in if it were on a weekend.
 
I'm going to resurrect this thread since there's been recent interest in the 4th Gen forum. The rest of December is full for me but is anyone interested in going to Main Divide or the desert in January or February?

i'd be down for a trip in the coming months to anza borrego, getting a locker installed next month. gotta go test it out. go drive around anza for a day or 2
 
I'd be up for Santiago Peak in Jan/Feb. I've only ridden motorcycles up there.

I remember the trail being a little rocky near the top but I saw someone up there in a Toyota Corolla one time so it's definitely doable in 2WD.
 
Went up to Mt. Laguna today. Went out on a little one-way loop for my wife to take some pictures and it ended up getting pretty steep, icy and snowy. The crest of the loop was an icy 90° right hand turn which I was pretty sure was going to result in having to get us towed out of. I put it in L and engaged the Auto LSD, gave it easy, steady throttle and she did it!! I was really impressed. I could feel all the electronics working hard, but they did their job and got me up the hill and around the corner. :thumb3: :thumb3:

Well that resurrection of this 2WD Thread didn't last very long, Maybe it needs to be sparked up again and and actual planned run accomplished.

I live near the Holy Jim Canyon, I have been looking for some guys to wheel with. My stock 4th Gen in RWD has been loads of fun back there.

I know it's slightly off topic but I have been looking for some one local-ish to do a custom front bumper. Mine was hit my a big scooter, and I got some insurance cash to get a nice front end now.

I'll be down somewhere near San Diego due to not having too much time. I'm thinking about Sunday if rain is not too bad.

Pelfreybilt is in Santee or thereabouts. Not cheap, but looks good. And they have aluminum. ...
