2x 2017 Limiteds on dealer lot, but with different tires from factory

My dealer has several 2017 Limiteds on its lot. Some ship from the factory with Bridgestone Duellers, while others ship with Yokohama Geolanders. All have the 20" OEM wheels. Any insight on why this might be? Any insight on which are better?

I love the Geolanders for on-road driving. Don't even think of using them in anything muddy, unless you've got a recovery solution.

If that's the case then you are the only guy with a TPMS (and your spare is not yellow) in your spare.

Further, doing a five tire rotation will not save you anything after 50K miles.

Manual clearly indicates 5 tire rotation for LEs, but is silent on TPMS. I assume they install it on the spare, since both wheel and tire are matching, but I've not looked for the TPMS device.

If you rotate 5 tires evenly, a set gets you 75k instead of 60k (if they're 60k tires), but then you have to buy a new set of 5 to continue these "savings."

So, yes, no net change, just means you need to buy a replacement for your spare when you get a new set of tires if you rotate all 5.

It is what it says to do in the manual for 20" wheels. I'll pull it off later today and check.

When I take it in to Toyota for the rotation I ask for 5 tire rotation and each time they have rotated only 4.

Lowered the spare, it is exactly the same as the other four. No yellow spare. I bought the 4Runner new at dealer. I don't know how to tell if it has TPMS, when removed I drove around the block and no tire pressure warning.

If you haven't lowered the spare before, I suggest you give it a try. The angle of the lowering tool is not in the direction I would have guessed and hard to tell from the picture in the manual. I had to crawl under the car and look which way it needed to go. Handle went horizonal, pointed towards the center of the spare. 30 degrees?

Indeed, kind of need a kama sutra guide or much more experience than I've got to make that system work on your first attempt.

The spare has a TPMS sensor in it(Limited). I had to scan the spare when I installed the Winter rims and tires

TechStream software shows you the 5 Id's number at pressure.

I have a 2016 Limited and the spare is not yellow. It is a factory rim. Not sure what year they decided to change it.

Glad they did! Will have to check my Trail and see if they did it also.

From what I gather, it's only the LE that has a matching spare. Don't want to be mall crawling and be left stranded!

Not sure why they call for a 5 tire rotation as stated you're not really saving anything. Plus when you buy tires are you going to buy 5? My FJ had a matching spare and the manual stated only a 4 tire rotation just front to back.
