3" Lift Idea for 3rd Gen - Thoughts?

Would it be a bad idea to only have wheel spacers up front for a period of time until you bought another set for the rear?

Keep in mind that with the stock amount of weight in the rear, LC 7 wraps will give you closer to 5" of lift. My 7.5 wraps are giving me exactly 4" of lift now, but thats with a 140 lb rear plate bumper and rock sliders.

That is the chance you take with LC coils. There are several factors that can limit or extend lift heights.

If your stock rear is sagging pretty good than stock ride height, then the coils will give you more lift than others that didnt have a saggy rear end.

The condition of the LC coil will affect lift height, brand new coils will give you maximum lift, the older and more used should give you less due to them sagging on a land cruiser.

I have 8 wraps on mine, at first they gave me 5" after a couple hundred miles I am now sitting at 4.25"-4.50"

The toytec/eibachs will work with the bilstein 5100. That is what I recently installed on my 02 4runner and am very pleased with the result.

From my daily reading of the forum this is a great setup for daily drivers that see some trail rides. The cost is much less if you use the bilstein 5100, toytec/eibach springs, and use your stock top hats. The complete coil overs are very nice with the spanner wrench to adjust the coils while they are still on the rig as oppose to my setup where i have to remove and compress to adjust height, but with the correct spring and shock there should be no need to adjust higher than what the two will give you, unless you put some major weight up front.

So you have the height adjustable 5100s (with stock, 1.25 and 2.5) settings with the toytec/eibach coils? And are you using the stock setting for 3" of lift?
I know you had mentioned this on my thread too... now looking at it, it seems like an affordable AND good option (if Im understanding correctly)
I have a savage bumper and winch up front, so hoping to stay close to 3"

I don't know if the 5100 shocks first setting will give the 3" of lift, I think it has to be placed on a higher setting with the addition of the Eibach coils.

thats where it gets foggy. Toytec's site says if using LIFT coils on those height adjustable 5100s, use the stock setting... and with a 3" lift eibach spring that makes sense, but sounds too good to be true.

From what I have researched the TACOMA adjustable 5100 with toytec/eibach coil will yield 3 inches. not 100% certain but that is what they sell on their site.

I have the TUNDRA adjustable 5100's, I chose them due to research on ride quality. I have the TUNDRA billies on the second spring perch for 3.25" of lift, i think the tundras stock perch setting is lower than the tacomas thus needing to put the tundras on the second perch to yield 3-3.25" of lift.

Sorry for the caps on models, i get confused when reading and comparing both adjustable shocks.

From what I have read the toytec/eibach coil is a true 3 inch lift, with tacoma bilstein 5100 or a appropriate 4runner shock that will work

Throw in the TUNDRA adjustable 5100's and then you will need to adjust to the second perch due to different design lengths of the shock(my best educated guess)

Tacoma 5100 shock has three different height settings
Tundra 5100 shock has five different settings, which IMHO is great to fine tune your lift after a heavy new addition to the front without undershooting or overshooting your desired 3 inches in the front

Are those the 00-06 Tundra 5100s? And then the 4runner 3"toytec/eibach coils?
Sorry to be so specific/needy, but your truck looks great and if the ride quality is good too, then... sign me up!
Id like to be right at 3-3.25 with bumper weight. mine has sagged over 3 years to be about 2 1/2 and the ride quality sucks.
BTW, we'll have to get a trail run together one of these days

Thanks! Household and job are both off of powers so i dont get around town that much to see or be seen. Also i just parked the 4runner, tore a cv boot, so i am waiting for some parts to come in.

Yep I have the 00-06 tundra 5100 plus the 3" toytec/eibach coils. Words of caution though, i just saw downsouth motorsports post this about the tundra 5100 on their website

"These shocks are NOT designed to fit the 1996-2002 model Toyota 4-Runner. If attempting to install on a 4-Runner shocks will NOT fit without modification an there will be NO WARRANTY on the shocks."

Well they fit on mine, plus probably on a lot of 4runners with no problems. So if you order from them tell them you have a tundra if you have to warranty them for some reason.

I could be wrong so please don't take my advise as solid, I would hate for you to listen to me and buy what I have and be unhappy, but my guess is with the tundra 5100 and all your weight up front that might be a better choice than the TACOMA, since there is more weight up front in a tundra vs a 4runner. I just read also it is not a good idea to go above or stay at the third notch on the tundra, or on any other adjustable IMHO.

To make it short, I am hoping the toytec/eibach coils can support your extra weight up front without sagging to much, thus having to adjust the 5100's to a perch that is to high.
