30 or 40 inches?

Finally got my Gobi rack and am now trying decide on lights. Believe me when I say that I have been through every last photo on this forum of light bars installed on a Gobi. I have narrowed it down to a 40 inch rigid E2 combo and a 30 inch. I test fitted the 30 and wanted to see what you guys thought?

Seriously though, that set-up right thurr looks good. It looks like it fits right. The only reason I'd say to go 40 is if you needed a wider spread on the over head light. I mean, that would be the intent right? I like the 30 IMHO.

I like the way that 30 flows within the upper bar bends in that picture. 40's would kind of cover that area up.

I think it looks good the way it is. I personally don't like overhead light as much, hood/fender glare and when you look out the left or right sides your eyes have to re-adjust, unless of course you intend on lighting the sides and rear too.

I say 40, but I'm biased.

And, that's either a really nice, huge closet or an almost completely useless bedroom. I do like the 3D effect you've created though. And I didn't have to pay $15 to see it.

I vote for 40-inch too but also biased, and I like the curved bar over the straight to widen out the beam pattern a tad more without having to use separate lights. But quite honestly, the 30-inch looks great mounted on the Gobi (and cheaper too).

Thanks. Yeah it does appear to be floating - I just propped the back end up a bit with a box so I wouldn't put any weight on fairing.

That is the window bay in my office at work. It is a pretty useless space - it does, however, hide all of my amazon purchases quite nicely from the wife

@OP- the 30" looks great but you will always want mooore light, even if you don't really need it.

I've got a 30" on my Baja, and was worried about hood glare. It's mounted on a bar about 4 inches behind the spoiler and front of the rack, and the spoiler keeps light from shining on the hood. Really nice having the light up high, it seems to carry further and great for cresting small hills.

Ah thanks! that is good to know I had a 4 light yakima crossbar config set back to the rear of the doors on my old toy PU and it was hella bad ( ), the fact the truck was white I am sure didn't help at all either. Damn if you couldn't melt eyeballs out of someones skull with it but the glare was horrible.

I'm serious man. You will always wonder how much brighter it will be if you had gone 40".


And then you'll wonder if you add this, then that, how much brighter it will be.

Just get the 40" and join the spaceship club. Looks cleaner than the 30" IMHO as well if you rig it up like [MENTION=68685]Ducmonsta[/MENTION].

Whats the verdict? I am looking to pull the trigger on a light bar and was wondering what you settled on and what you think now...

I was looking at the 40" curved light bar that Desert Dawg has, but I kind of like how the 30" fits. The 40 looks huge up there, but the curved bar looks pretty darn clean.

How about pics of it all mounted up?

I ended up sticking with the 30". I actually ordered a 30" and 40" off of Amazon and test mounted them both. I then returned the 40" (I love Amazon). I personally just preferred the 30" and the way it followed the contour of the top bar on the rack. To each his own though - the curved light bars look nice as well.
