Just wanted to let you guys know about a subwoofer solution I used awhile back.
15" drivers go for about $150.
Wood materials go for about $75.
Suitable 200W amp can be purchased for about $75.
It's a front loaded horn enclosure with 15" subwoofer that can be driven to maximum output with just ~200 watts.
And maximum output was enough to break one guys front windshield!!
This is a HUGE subwoofer enclosure. It will take up your entire trunk area. And fits super-duper-snug. The hatch will actually just barely touch the box as you close the hatch.
But if you're a bass head who likes building your own boxes and trying new things, then this could be for you. Especially if you want to retain your stock electrical system and get by with just 100W to 200W driving your sub.
And it gets down to 20hz (then drops like a rock after that).

Tuba HT
I built the 21" high version and it was right about rear seat level if I remember correct. The nice thing about this sub is it is going to have cleaner output than sealed or vented. And it has HUGE amounts of impact energy. My interior plastics rattle way more with this than they do in my 4.5 cu.ft. 15" 500W subwoofer that's tuned to 28hz.
