I am the market and I have been seeing it show up on the invoices, but I have only seen $500 and $750 not $1,000. I figured the price discrepancy is due to the internet departments trying to hold some money. Although it could be different discounts for a different market or model.
THANKS! More fuel for the negotiating!
Edit:
Did some digging.
$0 off SR5
$500 off TE,
$750 off TE Premium
$1,000 off Limited
It will be interesting to see how the dealers dick around with this. Hopefully it'll be in the form of a cash rebate straight from Toyota, but I have my doubts that it will be that simple.
so I'm not really seeing any discount on any of the old MSRP's of dealership stock. However, I did notice one car that was newly listed that had the discount accounted for. How does this work? I'm going to try to go into the dealership tomorrow, but I have the feeling that the dealers won't be aware of the new 750 off.
Dealership informed me that this is not a new discount, but has been offered all along as a Option Package Discount on 2014's. I told them that it was confusing and they agreed. So they have discounted them all along without advertising it, but now they are is how it was explained to me. I trust the woman I've been dealing with so I didn't press the issue.
Mind posting your msrp and final discounted selling price, sans TTL?
/skeptical/
You should negotiate 5%-8% off + the new discount.Dealer is telling me that this deal is meant to make the car seem cheaper by lowering the MSRP, but they cannot further discount the car from the price I agreed upon 2 weeks ago. They state that the price they paid for the car is still the same. they did not get any rebate/email from Toyota headquarters about a rebate on any 4Runners and therefore they would not be reimbursed by Toyota in anyway for this 30th anniversary discount.
What do you guys think? Her story seems kind of legit and makes sense regarding how it doesn't change the price the dealer paid for the car... but I always hate trusting sales ppl.
You should negotiate 5%-8% off + the new discount.
Do they have a deposit from you?
Maybe I'm the only one who's thinking this way, but $1000 off isn't any real type of incentive, financially or mentally. I mean, 1-2%? On anything $40k or over it should be $2000 to $2500. I mean, in all reality the sales person is going to add that in as part of the negotiation in counting your discount anyway so you're not getting any more off than you usually would, its just to entice buyers. Even if it was $2000 they would do the same (count that in as part of the max discount they will give you), but at least with $2000 it makes it seem like you are getting a special deal on a mental/emotional level anyway. These incentives are playing to the buyers emotions and nothing else, and at the end of the day a dealer won't go below a certain price so you can negotiate the same price regardless.
If you want a 4runner you're going to buy one. $1000 off would't do much to entice me on an emotional "I'm getting a deal!" level. $2000 - $2500 starting point to negotiate? It would make me feel better... You guys agree, disagree?
That's why you negotiate a price and then add the incentive. That is how I structure deals.
BTW, $1K is a great incentive especially on a 4R.
