30th Anniversary Discount $1000

that extra $1000 would have given me almost 4% off msrp :)

so instead of $3000 off, I would have been $4000. have to remember, on avg every $1000 off is another $17 less in payments as a minimum depending on how long you finance.

and when was the last time anyone ever saw a discount on a 4runner from Toyota.

I totally get what you are saying. I just wonder how much of a marketing gimmick it is vs actual discount. Would you actually have gotten $3000 off or would they have only negotiated $2000 and added the $1000 incentive after?

I'm all for incentivizing more people to be owners to keep the model line alive (because i'm fearing a non BOF model). But I do feel that this is a gimmick. My opinion only. Toyota sell more cars than any other manufacturer. in my mind $1000 on something over $40,000 is almost insultive.

actually its been documented in the 2014 thread (good luck in that 55+ page thread) with a pdf of the actual price he gave me, which was just a tad over $3k about 2 months before the vehicle was picked up. MSRP was $456xx and my price was $4264xx. we just had to work out the trade in, apr and duration closer to close date which was set back in November for the 4-dec-14. the 4runner came in before the 4-dec, but it was held until after the 1-dec. since the price was already set, the discount if it would have come out before I actually bought the vehicle would have been $1k less than the agreed price on paper.

reason was I didn't want to pay for the whole month of November for tags if the paperwork was done on the 29-nov.

state moves up the due date to the 1st day of month bought regardless of the day of month you actually bought the vehicle.

i think this is all marketing gimmick. I've been working with a few dealers on trying to buy a 4runner for awhile now. I alerted them all to the new pricing... they all said the same thing, their initial offers all stood at what they had. They could not give me the incentive on top of the discount I was already getting. The dealer paid xyz for the car and this 30th anniversary discount does not change their xyz price. Unless it's a cash rebate... I don't see consumers getting much else out of this deal. Only if you buy MSRP will it be a deal, but that's not a deal then.

If you can get this incentive worked in on top of your discount... let me know.
