35" x 12.50 tires...how much lift is needed?

So, I'm planning on new tires wayy in advance. Currently I have only a 2.5" coil spacer kit with 31x10.5R15 tires. I know 33x12.50 will fit with only minor problems, but how about 35x12.50? Do they fit on the 3rd Gen? If so, what lift is needed to accomodate the 35's?

16x8 4.5 or 4.0 bs wheels, 1 inch body lift with 3 inch suspension can be done with a decent amount of trimming

1.5 or 2 inch bl is more suitable and can handle less trimming.

frame rails and pinch weld will the the cause of rubbing and front area if you dont have an aftermarket bumper.

I know the question was pertaining to lift but keep in mind you will also need to re-gear. I'm guessing 5.29's is what you would want to go with but someone with more experience may be able to chime in with a better answer.

4.88s is really ideal for 35s,

I plan to run 35s but as an offroad only set, i only have 4.56s but i have 5:1 case gearing which puts it low.

driving onroad 4.88s is as close to stock as it comes , you could goto 5.29s but thats going to be high revs at speed.

That depends on your transmission. If you have a manual trans the 4.88's are probably ideal. But, if you have automatic then I would go a little lower. I personally have 5.29's on my 2004 Tacoma 4wd with 35's and I wouldn't want it any different. I turn about 3k rpm's or less doing 75mph on the freeway and around town they're also fine. I wouldn't want 4.88's with my setup or I would be having to always downshift on the freeway.

but first gear in a auto for the 4runner isnt the 2.83 or whatever you guys have, its 3.75

4.88s are better for 35s, 5.29s is gonna be too low for daily driving use.

what is the A/T equivalent to a 33x12.50 tire? I noticed BFG doesn't make any for any wheels bigger than 15" but i wanna get wheels so i can do tundra brakes too...lol...one thing leads to another

I run 35's x 14.5 with 4.88's. work great. Around 60 mph the tach is at 2500 i think. Im used to 60 being a bit under 2 in my z. So im not happy with the higher rpm but they work just fine. Im gona try and go up to 36 or 37's by 12.5. I also have a custom 9in suspension lift, still running IFS though.

they wont fit stock. if you have a lift they will.

hi new to this forum i looked in gallery couldnt find carnage. im looking at getting a 4runner. looking for one with a rear locker in it and want to do an overland setup.
