35's and lower ball joints - mileage/life?

So, I just took the rig into Firestone for who knows what number now on the alignment, and a tech comes out stating the lower ball joints are bad. I was a bit in disbelief, went out to the shop floor, and sure enough, they had an unbelievable amount of play.

I've got about 30k miles tops on OEM Toyota LBJ's. For those of you on 35's or 305/70's that wheel a bunch, what kind of miles are you finding on your LBJ's? It's a bit disappointing to see the LBJ's failing this quickly and severely.

That doesn't seem like that many miles, but wheeling with 35's has to put way more stress on the LBJ than stock. For me, 30k would take 5-6 years so I would be happy. However, if you're driving that many miles in 2 years I would be a little more concerned.

Ive been running 305's for about a year now and wheel them hard. Just aligned not too long ago and all is solid. But I did tear through a new UBJ in about 10k miles before I got some LR UCA's.

I believe it can happen. I hope my 305's dont kill them that fast.

The second owner of my truck had the lower ball joints replaced at 130k miles. I am the fourth owner, and installed 35"s at around 220k miles. The truck is at 228k miles right now. No issues to report. And I wheel my truck very hard. I have a set ready to go in, but the current ones have zero play, zero grease leakage, zero problems.

I replaced mine about the same time I got my 35x12.5s mounted and that was two years ago no problems yet. They're oem from Toyota. The rubber is intact and everything looks fine.
