35s on a runner?

Forgive me if this is posted else where...

I'm really wanting to get my T4R up on 35s. Has anyone done this with a good write up and pictures?

Couple questions:

With the lift I have now, already settled the springs what amount of body life is preferred. I know cutting will be required. But I would like to keep it minimal...

Also what gears are you running with 35s?

I have zero rub now with 285s.

Specs below...

Jeff

2006 4Runner SR5 4WD. 4.0L V6 1GR-FE. 5 Spd Auto A750F. Bilstein 5100 w/ OME 884 (FRT). Bilstein 5100 w/ OME 895E (REAR) 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers.

Specs aren't below Do some searching.
depends on wheels, back spacing, spacers, etc.
BM chop, a ton of trimming, UCAs
aha2988 is running 35's and 4.56's

You can always check Toyota120. Quite a few guns running 35's over there. I have debated upsizing to that, but it requires a lot of trimming and necessitates a re-gear.

I'm running 33's with 4.56 gears on the V8 and it's just right for highway rpm's if not still running a slightly lower rpm than factory. I could run 35's no problem. With the V6 I would definitely go to 4.88's to run 35's. As well previously mention you will have to do a good bit of trimming, a body lift of 1.5" or slightly higher and certainly cut back the body mount under the front doors just behind the front tires.

I thought you were running 35's  shows what I know

I think in a thread or two I've tossed the Idea around of running 315/75/16's but I really don't care for the hassle of fitting them right now. My future plan is to SAS the front and raise the suspension enough to clear for 35-38" tires

OME 3" (3.5" actual) plus a Roger Brown 1.5" body lift and UCA's. Trimming of the front body mounts and all fenders and hammering the pinch welds flat. It honestly sounds harder than it is... keep in mind that I had to cut my sliders in the photo below as well because they were too long.

I like that future plan a lot

Your 315/70/17 and the 315/75/16 measure closer to 34" x 12.5" but same process as trimming for 35's. A true 35" tire is going to measure just above 35'' and just about 13" wide all pending brand of course

You are correct. My procomps measure about 34.5"... However, many other companies 315/70 r17's measure over 35". It's basically the same thing.

Wait 38's on a DD 4Runner? Did I hear that correct? Even with a SAS swap I have not seen that yet. If you dream, dream big I guess.

The problem with anything over 35's isn't the suspension, its the body. My tires COMPLETELY fill the wheel wells and we don't have options for fender flares to make cutting away the body a good solution. There are fiberglass flares for the front, but nothing good for the back...

I can see your point in that. Fab time I guess. Make your own and cut and weld. I'm guessing it will be a trail truck at that point and not so much a DD.

Nah man 38's are fine for a dd, my boy rob runs 40's on his third gen, granted he doesn't drive it to work but he runs down the road in it daily. Uses balance beads to keep the tires balanced. If you gear it right and balance the coils well they drive just as good. Well corners are always the exception.

Look at crozhawk, medic83, and a few of the other straight axle 4th gens on Toyota 120
