3D printed Scangauge mount?

I've got a Scangauge sitting in my basement and I am trying to find the best way to mount it. Visibility-wise, it seems like 10 o'clock to the left-center vent is the best place, but it's not that clean of an installation.

Has anyone had any luck creating a 3D printed mount for there (or anywhere)?

I've considered the top of the steering column too, but it makes it hard to see some of the idiot lights. And I am certainly an idiot, haha.
 
I've seen this one on a members build thread. I think its pretty neat, especially since you can still add switches on it. I don't think anyone uses the sunglass holder anyway. This will the route I'll go if when I do get a scanguage. How often does one look at it anyway? Once an hour maybe?

That's pretty clean. My sunglasses won't even fit in the sunglass holder, so that might be an option too...
 
I've had the idea, but not the skill to design one that can be 3D printed that replaces the sunglasses holder. I'd really like to figure out how to get it done, because mine is just velcro'd down in front of the shifter below the ash tray.

That's what I used, and I'm quite happy with it. It is angled upwards very nicely for viewing.

My attention is already in that area periodically due to the climate control, HU and other stuff. Regardless of where the SC2 screen is located, a quick focus on it means that our eyes are not focused on the road at that moment. Just do so at ideal times...

Yup!

Last time I checked, he doesnt make them anymore. He says they're a pain in the butt to make.
 
My FIL has his between his rear view and the headliner in his Tundra, it's a perfect spot IMO [emoji1360]
I use my sunglasses holder AND my ash tray, so I don't wanna lose either of those.
I hate the look of extra shít, so tucking it up by the mirror is my personal favorite spot.
I haven't gotten a SG yet to try, but I'm sure I could fit it up there somehow.

I don't blame him, the pics in your thread make it look like a lot of work. That said, I've got a buddy at work who just bought a 3D printer and is looking for reasons to use it, and I've got time to mess with it.

similar to the Hilux Surf computer. this is what I've wanted to do for a while, just don't want to tear up my headliner. waiting for someone else to mass produce them first.

He makes them by hand. Theyre not 3D printed
 
Why not just embed it into the top of the steering column? You can countersink it lower so the idiot lights on the dash are still visible. You can also run all the wiring inside the column down to the OBD2 port. Makes for a simply clean install.

That’s exactly how I did mine. Clean and in the same area as all the original dash gauges.
 
I plan to mount mine on the lower screw of the left hand grab handle. I mocked up a small metal shelf and used a metric screw through a bushing for mounting in that location. It worked well so I plan to make a better one. Since then I saw where someone was making a holder for that location but I can't find it right now.

I took a quick glance with it a couple of weeks ago and it seemed like that would block the idiot lights, but yours looks like it's pretty low. I'll give it another look.
 
I made a $2 mount out of roof flashing and put mine here. Perfect spot as you don't have to look down to see it.

did you have to drill into the tombstone trim panel? or did you route behind it?
