Would like to see something to improve the cup holders

mine doesn't.


I loved the cup holders in my FJ. Maybe an insert that fills the entire rectangular space with removable pieces for bigger cups.

Will do! I just need to pick up some more black printing material (as you can tell by the crazy colors I started using for the prototypes), and then I'll be ready to produce and ship the final product.

So basically just put walls on both sides of the tissue holder to make it a sealed box? I think I can manage that :biggrin2:

How much does the product cost when making these? Looking into getting a printer and don't know how much making small items is

It's about $30 per spool of ABS plastic @ 2.2 lbs (1kg) a spool. Honestly, each spool has lasted longer than expected, so individual trinkets end up being really cheap to produce. The only downfall is the time it takes to make parts and the size limitation of the print platform.

So how many of those "secret" compartments can a spool make you? That would be sweet, I have a little knife i keep in there that always falls out even though it has some velcro and stuff

I could probably make about 12 per spool, give or take a little. After thinking about it more, I think it'd be a great place for people to keep backup/emergency tools so they don't get lost or stolen.

Yep! All sides covered except the one facing the top since that's not necessary or visible. I would probably stick a wad of cash in there for emergencies (aka forget wallet and already have groceries in cart). If you open the compartment all you would see is a hump...unless someone was actually looking for it they'd probably pass right over it.

Ladies in gentlemen, I think we just might have a winner! Looks to hold firmly enough to suspend a tissue box, but is also loose enough to remove without breaking anything.

My Solidworks license expired at the end of last year, but once I get a new 2014 license I definitely intend on continuing these projects. I have a list on my desktop of all of the ideas you guys have had, so I haven't forgot anybody :

is your software converting regular CAD files and slicing them, or is it a completely different file type?

I just bought a dual head 3d printer, and a 3d scanner, but honestly man, i have n o idea what to do with it.
